What do I need for a Wedding????? HELP!?

Hi all! I am planning on getting married in August 2008, but on a limited budget because I am a grad student. I really don't want to spend more than 10-15K. Anyway, I am trying to make complete ballpark estimates of thing just to have an idea on whether or not I can afford a wedding with the help of my parents. I got the basics, like food and dresses etc... Its the little things like do I have to get my bridesmaids corsages? I will get them presents but do the groomsmen need presents too? Whose dresses/tuxedos should I buy if any? and basically all the stuff I know I am forgetting!!! (I totally know what I am giving for party favors though!!!) Also, do you have any ideas on budgeting? Like 500 is way too much to spend on party favors? or 200 for invitations is WAY cheap or whatever you all think! I much appreciate this! Finally, I can't figure out how to get price quotes for flowers because I don't know where I am going to have the reception...I just really need ballpark numbers! Ty!

What do I need for a Wedding????? HELP!?
For flowers use silk they are cheaper and make a great keepsakes. Why not just give the whole wedding party a gift cert., if you give the girls a gift, you should give the guys one. Check out this years prices on your bouquets and wedding flowers and you will dsave a little before they raise for next year.

Reply:Tuxedos. You don't buy them. The GM rent them. About $150.

GM and BM presents. Yes, you HAVE to give them a present

Corsages. You can make your own bouquets or make them walk witha single rose or cala lillie. No need for corsages.

200 for invites is way cheap. How many people are you inviting. You can DIY invites at home if you have a printer

500 in party favors. Yes, too much. Buy edibles and spend half of that

For flowers, at minimum, spend around $1500

Good luck

You get bouquets (not corsages) for your bridesmaids. Get corsages (or small bouquets) for your mom and groom's mom. Your dad and his dad get bouts. And yes, you get the bridesmaids gifts. Your groom will get gifts for his groomsmen. Usually bridesmaids pay for their own dresses and groomsmen pay to rent their own tuxes. Try to keep those costs affordable for them.

Try The Knot's budget calculator for your other questions. Good luck to you.

Reply:Find your buget and go to www.theknot.com and use the calculator. First things first. Decide on a budget and approx. how many guests you plan on having attend. This will give you a good number to work with especially since the caterer, bakery, site, favors, invitations really all depend on the number of people you are inviting. Keep in mind you have to add postage for the invitations, response cards and Thank You notes. I used silk flowers and no one even noticed plus they all got to keep the boquets (bridesmaids/maid of honor), boutineers (groom, groomsmen, ushers, fathers, grandpas) and corsages (mothers, grandmothers, singer, guest book attendent). Go to oriental trading company, theknot.com and weddingchannel.com and check out their online stores for more ideas. Take a deep breath.....planning is the key to a not so stressful wedding.
Reply:Start here with this free downloadable wedding planner. It give you questions to ask vendors, budget sheets, and lets you know what all you will need. As far as estimates, it can vary depending on where you live for your flowers and how exotic they are. If you are looking for a simple rose bouquet in the midwest it costs around $125 for a bridal bouquet and $65 for the bridesmaids.

Start with a number that you can afford for your budget. Then use the percentages of each category to give you an idea of how much to spend in each category. Changing the percentages a little for the areas that you would like to emphasize and decreases where the items that are not as important to you. For instance, if you have a party favor that you really love and it costs a little more than the budgeted amount then increase the party favor amount and decrease something else in another category that is not as important (like not spending $1,000 on invitations!).

Invitations are very affordable and can be found online from Willowtreelane.com

Rexcraft.com

Invitationsbydawn.com

and many other websites. Or you can make your own with decorative papers from Hobby Lobby or Michaels. It just takes time and creativity.

The online wedding planner will help you with all of the other categories.

Best of luck with planning your wedding!
