Wedding invitation help for me and Jen!?

We are getting married on Sept 1, 2007. We are having a casual outdoor wedding ceremony and then a reception following the ceremony around the same outdoor area as the ceremony was held. We have rented tents and chairs and have all of the decorations. We are using daiseys and flowers and lights and candles. We have a dj booked who will play after the wedding ceremony and we also have a nice dinner planned for all of the attendees. We will serve great food, drinks, and have dancing all evening. The problem is the invitations! We need help! We want to tell them to dress casual and join us for an evening of food, music, and fun---and the sharing of our love. Here is what we have so far-------The honor of your presence is requested at the marriage of Jennifer Jo Richards daughter of Ty and Dianna Richards and Joshua Lamar Crippen, son of Max and Debbra Crippen on Saturday, the first of September, two thousand and seven at six o'clock in the evening. Reply:I wouldn't probably use the word casual twice... if you say it is a casual outdoor ceremony %26amp; reception they should get the hint not to show up dressed for a formal affair. But also since u are having them RSVP to a phone number you could tell them over the phone just to dress casual or leave an outgoing message on your machine that would say "if you are calling to RSVP....mention something about the type of dress u are expecting, like one of the other answers i read where they wrote flip flops optional.

Most people understand that at an outdoor wedding ceremony and outdoor reception that they should not come in gowns or tux. I wouldn't even mention it. People know. If you write casual dress, people may come in jeans. That is not wedding etiquette, so I would leave it alone. Don't mention it.





Most people go to outdoor weddings with possibly for the girl a lovely casual short dress made of soft cotton or chiffon. The guys come in casual dress pants, nice shirt and tie, which would be removed at your party. If a guy comes in a sport jacket, he'll remove it as the party gets started.





Then have a small card with envelope for the return whether they will attend or will not attend.That is it! Don't stress over a small thing like that.
