What all do I need for a wedding? My daughter is getting married in less than a week (short notice).?

We have the dress, flowers for the dride %26amp; groom, bridesmaid, groomsmen, parents, grandparents (anyone else I'm forgetting here?). Also, have the birdseed (rice) bags. Do most people have the archway to walk through? It is a quick wedding but I want her to have a nice wedding to remember. We have the cake ordered for the reception but want to have a few finger foods around. What is acceptable for this. It is a church wedding and the reception will also be held in the church. Therefore we are having punch and coffee to drink. What am I forgetting? BTW- she is pregnant and wants to get married before word travels much (this is HER and HIS decision to marry). Plus she wants to get married on what would have been the 89th birthday of her great-grandma. Therefore, we are rushing. HELP!!!

Hi. You are a very thoughtful mom.

Seems like you have most everything covered.

~ One big thing.....they will need to go and apply for a marriage license if they have not done so already.

~ PHOTOGRAPHER?????

~ You don't need an arch, unless you really want to have this as an entrance to the fellowship hall, but I would not have this as an entrance to the sanctuary.

~ I work as a church secretary. Make sure it is OK with the church first regarding the birdseed/rice. Most churches do not allow this now. Perhaps yours still does.

~ Aisle runner? These can be purchased at Walmart and even dollar stores. It's totally optional, though.

~ FLOWERS: What about 2 vases of flowers for the altar? Check with the church if they have vases you can borrow. Simply take them to the florist. Most people do like to have flowers for the church also.

~ Cake, punch and coffee sounds great! Really, any kind of finger foods would work. Veggies/dip; Fruit/dip; assorted cheeses and crackers. If you wanted, you could make up some finger sandwiches.

~ Does the church have linens for the tables? Check to see. If they don't, then you will have to decide what to do. I really don't like paper or plastic (for a wedding). If they don't and you have a Family Dollar store near you, I know they sell tablecloths for $5/each. I bought a bunch of these for my son's rehearsal dinner and then sold them on Ebay after!

~ What about centerpieces for the tables for the reception? It's really easy to go to a dollar store and get a glass vase like this:

Get some "vase gems" (also at a dollar store) like this:

(they come in LOTS of colors). Also available at craft stores like Michaels, Hobby Lobby.

Then, fill 2/3 with water and put in a floating candle! Easy, inexpensive and beautiful! If you really wanted to add some elegance, you can always place it on a mirror tile (at dollar stores, Walmart, etc.) and sprinke a few silk rose petals around it.

If you have time...I know it's really late....but maybe someone can help you. It might be nice to display some pictures of the both the bride and the groom....from when they were little to the present. This gives guests something to look at while pictures are being taken.

~ One more thing, it might be nice to play some soft music. Perhaps enlist a young person to bring an ipod and speakers or use a CD player if you have to!

Good luck and have fun!
Reply:Double check with the church on the birdseed. Many churches don't permit anything like this. Archways are not necessary. Flowers?? Check with a wholesaler and make your own bouquets. You will find it much cheaper. Photographer? Music/DJ? Look at some bridal websites like The Knot or Martha Stewart.com for additional checklists and ideas.

Good luck.
Reply:Music... an ipod or CDs will do in a pinch.

For food, here are my suggestions: quiche (mini's available at Sam's club), fruit tray, veggie tray, stuffed mushrooms, beef satay, bacon wrapped water chestnuts, meatballs...

all can be eaten on a stick!
Reply:photo %26amp; video? - cake cutter %26amp; topper, guest book, favors - maybe some almonds or candy to go with the cake %26amp; punch. Veil or headpiece for the bride? Archway not needed. Unity candle? Any special songs for them with meaning?
Reply:License, preacher, someone to take pictures.

Finger foods sound fine, I had chicken nuggets, chips carrots and celery, nuts and mints to go with my cake and punch. We did have to go get more drinks though,
Reply:Sounds like you have it covered.

Will you be having a photographer to preserve the memories?
Reply:Have you invited the guests? Do they have rings?
