Wedding: Have I forgotten anything?

I'm getting married in one and a half weeks. I've planned most of the wedding myself and organized it. Just wondering, from those of you with more experience - was there something you wish you'd had or think is generally forgotten in the rush?

I've got dresses, suits, shoes, flowers, reception, celebrant and most things I think - anything I might have missed. (Will provide updates if you ask a Q.)

Wedding: Have I forgotten anything?
try to have a pre trail hair up do, so there wont be any surprises on your wedding day, as well as a make up trail too

make sure to get any thing fancy you want in your hair like flowers or pins already bought

get your nails done a day less than 24 hours before the wedding, this way you wont run into any chipping and messes

Have the gifts bought for your wedding party

make sure everyone in the party knows the date time and location of the rehersal, so they wont show up late or not at all

Have a pair of comfy shoes, or sandles to bring with you so druning the dancing later on you can switch over

Always carry a safty bag, have someone put it in their purse or have a place for it, have deordarnt, shine wipes(which you dap on your face and it takes the oil and shine away, can be bought at any local drug store works well even with makeup on), extra makeup for touchups, perfume, bobypins in case your hair starts falling out.

Make sure your dress has a way to get pined in the back when you are at your reception so you wont step on it, where you bought the dress will help you out and do the work

Make sure to have somthing New, Blue, Borrowed and Old

Have your jewerlly picked out

Have a basket or bag ready with all the things your going to need to get ready so if your leaving to go get ready somewhere else besides your home you can just have it all in the bag or basket ready so you dont forget anything

Have a to do list so you can check things off

Contact your photographer, band or dj, as well as your decorater to make sure they know what time to be there, always get them there at least a hour earlier so they can get it all set up

Have a way for everyone int he party to get to the church and photographs

Look at the little details such as the cake, having a long white or red runner placed down to walk up the aisle on, having birdseed or bubbles for people to throw or blow when your are wed

make sure to have your engagement ring switched to your right hand

look at the photographer as much as possible and hold hands with your husband and look at your husband as much as possible, it will look better for the pictures

Check the bathroom at the reception place making sure that its clean, and have a basket for each bathroom with little things like lotion and perfume/colonge. Have the wedding favors ready, for all the guests make sure to have your name as well as his and the date and time on each one for the guests to keep
Reply:Play as your first dance with dad...A beautiful song sung by Heartland...."I Loved Her First" See the lyrics on google and you'll fall in love with it too....
Reply:you probably forgot the groom or the church. i forgot both and now i am very lonely
Reply:Purchase a marriage license? Photographer? Wedding Video?

Ring Pillow for Ring Bearer? Don't forget toasting glasses at the reception? Guest book?
Reply:Just in case--bring along a couple of extra bobby pins and a safety pin or two. My sister was my maid of honor and right before we were ready to walk down the aisle, her hair barrette broke! We scrambled like crazy to find a bobby pin or something. Better safe than sorry.

Reply:did you make invitation cards? wedding cake? if so then you are done:) just book a day before the wedding in a nice spa, go out with your friends and enjoy your time; and congratulations, these are the nicest days in your life :)
Reply:you sound like you have covered most bases,oh hang on you have a groom dont you?
Reply:Your marriage license is probably the most important thing I can think of. I'm assuming you also have rings picked out.

Any of the stuff below is NOT NECESSARY, but are things a lot of brides have at weddings:

Are you making programs? They're not a necessity, and can be done at home on your computer.

Favors for reception? Guest book? Rice/bubbles for church exit? gifts for bridal party? gifts for parents?

An emergency kit: toothpaste/toothbrush, mouthwash, mints, makeup (for touch ups) hairspray, deodorant, bobby pins, safety pins, a sewing kit, good sticky tape (and do wonders for an emergency hem repair in short order!!), a tide pen or other stain remover, white chalk (can cover a spot on your dress a pinch!!), extra pantyhose, clear nail polish (to fix runs), tampons/pads, and grippy pads for the soles of your shoes (you don't want to trip walking down the aisle!), and something you can snack on - granola/cereal bars, etc. It sounds like a lot of stuff, but really, you've probably got most of it at home. The rest is very inexpensive to purchase, and will fit nicely into a small tote bag.

And most importantly - do not forget to have fun. It does NOT matter what happens that day - you're getting married and celebrating your commitment. I know it's stressful, but keep that in mind and have a blast! Congratulations and best of luck!
Reply:um something old, something new, something borrowed ans something blue, and i think a silver six pence in you shoe...

ooo and the rings... a photographer
Reply:Yes! Having fun. I got married in December and did the whole thing myself. Believe me the last week is the worst, because everthing is done and then the waiting starts. Go out sightseeing or spend some time with your family.
Reply:ur emergency wedding day cake. kleenex, xtra pair of hose, scissors, needle and thread, etc.
Reply:what a headache, I went to Vegas cost 100 dollars for everything, expect my engagement ring it 4 carat marque cut. and that day when we got married i hit the big wheel of fortune slot won 1,500 and we went back to the hotel made love drove back home to Los Angele's, and bought a house with money we saved for our original planes for the wedding.

GOD BLESS YOU AND I WISH YOU ALL THE LUCK AND HAPPINESS.
Reply:vechicle afterwards, gifts for the wedding parties...if you search wedding check;ist there are sites that will help you out...best of luck...

I kno if frustrating at times... i planned the wholle wedding by myself....try watching some wedding shows on tv also they can give you more ideas.. =)
Reply:Get your nails, hair and makeup done on the morning to be fresh. Always make sure brides maids are not as decorated as you.
Reply:My parents and I had talked about having breakfast the morning of the wedding, just the 3 of us before all of the chaos began. We decided that it was too much and we just didn't have time. I really wish that we would have just made time b/c I think that would have been a special memory.

Good luck to you and have a wonderful day!!

What is printed on a wedding program?

Wedding and reception takes place in a park by the water. Bride and groom dressed in formal attire. Maid of hounor and 3 bridesmaids, best man and 3 attendants, flower girl and ring bearer

What is printed on a wedding program?
order of service/marriage

a welcoming note, what the attendants names are, words of any songs you want them to sing,

any sayings or Bible passages that you will be using

and a thank you note for coming to the service

maybe a photo of the couple

2.Bring lots of nice gifts, please.

and even if you dont come, please pray that we dont seperate"
Reply:"bring lots of nice gifts, please"

"and even if you dont come, please pray that we dont seperate"
Reply:Outline of events for the wedding.
Reply:On the wedding programme (rather than the invitation);

1) the title of the music the bride will be entering to.

2) Then however much detail you want to go into; the words of the service itself, the words of the hymns and where they will come in the service, the title or Chapters of the readings and who they are read by.

3) The music to which the bride and groom will leave.

So:

1) Bridal March

2) Wedding Service

3) Hymn or song

4) Prayers

5) Second hymn or song

6) Signing of the Register 'during which the choir will sing/ Miss Sophie Jones will sing/the Orchestra will play.....'

7) Wedding March

Also you might include on the back page acknowledgement to the site owners, the priest/registrar, both sets of parents, the best man, bridesmaids, attendants, flower girl and ring-bearer, and florists and caterers if you so wish.

This is just the general outline - substitute your own choices, but that's an approximation.
Reply:The wedding program features the 'schedule' of events. The first page is usually a pretty photo of the couple or of some pretty flowers or whatever.

When you open the booklet up on the first inside page you can list the attendants names ex. Maid of Honor: Mary Smith and your parents names, the reveran's name.

On the next inside page - You would list the order of events and maybe the music selections that went with it:

Processional: Canon in D by Pachebel

FIrst Reading: Corinithians, read by John Smith

Homily

Second Reading: whatever, read by...

Exchanging of the Vows

Amazed by You - sung by Mary Smith

Recessional - wedding march

Your Justice of the Peace or Reverand will help you with the events to list in the program.

And on the last page - the back page - you could put - We thank you for sharing in our special day, etc etc....and a little note like that.

Any great Flamenco music by Guitar for wedding ceremony?

I have two flamenco guitarists/ singer for my wedding ceremony and reception. Any suggestions of what great, lovely, beautiful songs could be used for the ceremony, walking down the aisle songs? (I only have in my bridal party, the flower girl, ring boy, matron of honor and best man).

Please help and in advance thank you all for the suggestions!

Any great Flamenco music by Guitar for wedding ceremony?
Flamenco music is very very difficult to play. Since you already have 2 guitarists, why don't you meet with them and talk to them about what they play? Ask them to recommend something slow that you could walk down the aisle too. They know what they play especially well and may know some more obscure stuff/write some of their own stuff. Definitely they could use a tune that is beautiful even if the lyrics are a lil daring, and just play the instrumental.

Flamenco music is sooo gorgeous! And very non-traditional. Though I know I would have a difficult time walking to it as its not a real clear cadence. It's so fast paced and continues to get faster as the song goes on. Perhaps something more in a Spanish ballad to walk down the aisle to would be easier.

Though I'd hate to recommend something that the guitarist does not know. You want him to play something he knows he plays beautifully.
Reply:Anything by Ottmar Liebert - lovely and appropriate!
Reply:OMGOSH! I LOOOVE the idea of flamenco music at your wedding! How romantic!

Gipsy Kings, and Rodrigo and Gabriela are both great artists! Maybe they could play some of their music.

GOOD LUCk! Sounds like a blast!

Wedding in Miami, FL?

Hello I'm planning on having my wedding in Miami, FL. I am a resident, but I was just hoping for any type of information as far as, reception, ceremonies, flowers, cost, colors, photos, etc.... from couples who have recently gotten married in Miami. I know weddings can be pretty expensive these days and the economy is so bad so I was hoping to get an in-site from all of you. Especially the Wedded Ladies. Thanks in advance.

Wedding in Miami, FL?
I can't answer you question completely, but I got married in Tampa, Florida. I only had a budget of 10,000 for 150 people. I didn't think that would work for the type of wedding I wanted, but it did. And everyone thought my wedding was wonderful and most of all expensive! Spend the bulk of your money a photographer and a DJ. This is only my opinion. Both of these were important to me. I have been to weddings where the DJ was horrible and the wedding cost close to 80,000 and we couldn't wait to leave. I wanted to have my reception near the water, but it cost way to much $$$ so instead I had it down the rode from the water and had everyone stay at a hotel at the beach. I can send you pics if you want for a few ideas and give you my wedding photographer's name she is awesome. She travels all over Florida and beyond. Good luck!
Reply:The only thing I can advise you to do (since I don't live in Miami) is to have it indoors. It's too hot in Miami for an outdoor wedding.

Good luck and Congrats!

I need a unique idea for wedding centerpieces??

No fish bowls, no flowting candles, no flowers in a vase. I wan't something diferent. My colors are lavender and sage green. It is a daytime outdoor wedding and reception so even though I will have some candles I don't think they should be the focus since it will be bright out side. The wedding is in August. Any other decorating ideas would be apreciated.

I need a unique idea for wedding centerpieces??
Buy large prisms and put them on mirrors with small tealights. SInce you are having an outdoor daytime wedding (and hopefully it will be sunny) the sunlight will stream through the prisms and cast dancing rainbows all over the table.
Reply:these are cute torch centerpieces

Reply:I saw this on TV on one of those wedding shows and I thought it was a cool idea. They had little umbrellas in their wedding colours and had different things hanging from them. I couldn't quite make out what they were..I think they might have been oragami or something. But none the less it sounds retarded but it actually looked pretty cool. The girl on the show wanted something different that totally did not involve flowers or candles. You could always make one and play around with it and give it a try.
Reply:How about getting some plums and having natural centerpieces. Get large fancy bowls, and pile in a bunch of plums, mix in some big lemon leaves, that could be really pretty and the plums will go well with your color since they are deep purple, so they will match your colors.
Reply:I could think of two ideas....

1) topiary with your lavendar and sage green baby ribbons

2) flowerboxes with grass and individual Cookie Pops planted.
Reply:Not sure if you have round or long tables. If you have a long table how about a runner made flowers (would serve a dual purpose - plus you said no flowers in a vase...you didn't so no flowers period) or I know at some weddings people take the center pieces home (if you want them to) how about a small pile/stack of gift boxes wrapped in your colors and then put something cute inside. You said no fish bowls, what about decorated terricata (sp?) pots with potted plants, that you can put in your home after. You can paint them with your colors...

Just a few thoughts.

Have fun and congrats!!!!
Reply:How about using something that is an interest or hobby that you and your fiance have, such as birdhouses, photographs, car models, etc. Or you can have your centerpieces do double duty by having a plate of cookies, or a small cake that the people at the table can cut and eat for dessert. Since most bakers and reception venues charge per slice, rather than per cake, then they should be willing to make cakes that serve 10-12 people per table. If they have a problem with this, then question why they charge per slice, if they aren't willing to work this way.
Reply:you could do cute photographs. at a friends wedding she got a cylander vase that had a slit between two sheets of glass that she put photos in the wrapped all the way around. and then she added a cute gerber daisy to each vase. my aunt used cute lanterns at hers. whatever interests you.
Reply:We had bouquets of helium balloons in the bridal colors and cellophane bags of candy (you can order M%26amp;Ms in almost any color, printed with a message, like "Melissa and Dan, June 30, 2007").

There are also very small tabletop fountains that can sit on tables, or fun things like tabletop zen gardens (trays filled with fine sand and tiny gardening tools), or bonsai trees surrounded by miniatures), or flowers in unconventional containers (best I've seen - country wedding, flowers in old cow-shaped creamers and crockery bought at yard sales). Another wedding had piles of Lego bricks and the guests made their own centerpieces.

It depends on the style of the wedding. Small baskets of cookies, decorated guords (with designed drawn on with a burning tool). even small ceramic figurines can work. Just note that candles + sun = wax puddle, and food items should be wrapped (colored cellophane works nicely) so they don't attract bugs.
Reply:Yay! We have the same colors!

I'm actually still trying to come up with a creative center piece myself. I'm toying with a couple of ideas now.

One is making a crystal bouquet or at least using some crystals and something else - flowers, if I can't think of anything else. They're actually really easy and pretty quick and inexpensive to make:

http://www.geocities.com/chris_breecher/...

Another thing my fiance and I are toying with the idea of... is having celebration trees: http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com/store...

We'd decorate it a bit with our colors, but we'd also have bits of paper the guests could write their wishes/thoughts/advice/jokes to you on and then hang on the trees.

Other than those two things, I've got nothing - lol. I'm still trying to think of something better.
Reply:I have seen many people use paper mache balls in a nice bowl on their coffee table. I think that could look nice as a center piece. It would also be better than flowers or many other things because it won't die, people can take it home, and you can see over it to talk with other people at the table. You could have some family or friends that really want to help do it. When they are dry they can be painted with your colors. A good base would be the foam balls they sell at craft stores.
Reply:What about a simple frosted plate in the green color and put some stones or marbles or the glass pieces of the Lavender color in the center of the plates to look like a small waterscape scene. that is an outdoorsie kindda thing and is different. Or get those bells with the loop on top (the ones used for people to ring for the bride and groom to kiss) and put pictures of you and your fiance in them as you are growing up. Some pictures of you as a baby, then elementary school, middle school and high school etc. same for your fiance.
Reply:this is what I'm going to do for my center pieces I'm going get some bamboo that's allready potted then around the bamboo put roses at the base I'm going to use fake plants at guest tables and stick some really nice looking silk lillies in there to :)
Reply:What about some floating flowers in a bowl, something like gardenias that would smell great. The bowls could have a tall base so that they weren't sitting flat on the table.
Reply:I saw a pic of a August wedding with sage and green. They built flower boxes for the tables out of wood. They dyed them a dark coffee color but you can use your fav.

They were lined with plastic to keep from leaking and then they planted wheat grass (you know that stuff health nuts drink...you can buy it at store too) in the planters and let it grow for about a week. Its a very grassy green and was about 6 inches tall.

She made jewel sticks by putting purple crystal beads on the end of wire and then inserted them throughout the grass so it sparkled a little in the sun.

She bought tealights, wrapped a sage and purple ribbon around the silver base and put them along the bottom of the planter and sprinkled lavender that she bought in bulk instead of rose petals. It smelled amazing and look very clean and classy.

She wasn't into the frilly flower look so she played up the outdoor concept. Some other things she did:

*Artifical grass to make covers for the chair seats

*Backs of chairs were all tied with a organza sash and a hydrangea from her yard that morning.

*At like every other table she had bought a tree sapling that she put a bamboo placemat w/ ribbon to hid the ugly pot. The trees were given to guests to plant afterwards

*Might sound funny but burlap table runners look awesome

*To put boquets in she had galvanized buckets instead of vases

*cocktail hour was lemonade and donut holes

*Hung the usual paper lanterns but spray painted them in shades of purple, greens, and silvers instead of lighting them

There is tons more but you'd have to email me and jog my memory. It wasnt really a "theme" wedding but turned out gorgeous.
Reply:My best friend did something VERY creative and something completly different. She got a clear fish bowl that was larger though, and decorated the top with ribbons to match the wedding colors, inside she had butterflies. At the end of the night, there was a part where one person was each table let the butterflies go. It was very different and cool to see!

Need help with an outfit for a bridal shower and wedding?

I have a bridal shower to go to tomorrow, and I'm partially running it because I'm a bridesmaid. I also have a wedding reception to go to tomorrow night after the bridal shower. I've got a spring dress from Maurices to wear to both of these events tomorrow but I have a dilemma. It's suppose to be rainy and cold tomorrow, so the dress won't really work unless I have something to wear over it (like a sweater or jacket). The dress is cream with turquoise flower pattern all over and a turquoise tank top underneath because the dress is low cut and spaghetti strapped. I also have sandals that go very well with the dress, but since it's suppose to be raining, I don't know if sandals would be the best to wear. I do have some flats that are cream and blue/turquoise plaid. Would those work?

Please help!!! I am not very fashion savvy!! :-)

Need help with an outfit for a bridal shower and wedding?
Don't wear the "cream and blue/turquoise plaid" flats they will not go with the dress since its a floral pattern. Rough it and wear the sandles- unless you can pick up a pair of cream colored pumps.

If you get the pumps you can wear nude stockings which will keep you warmer.

Wear a simple cardigan over the dress during the day in a cream color - and at night go for a wrap.
Reply:try a white sweater
Reply:for the sweater...

^^in what ever color

for the shoes...i would try wearing the original plan but the flats wouldnt be bad

Getting married soon - Need help deciding for centerpiece for reception?

Hi, I am Indian and the colors we are going for during the reception is Deep brown with gold sashes, I am looking for centerpieces something unique, I don't want to do flowers and candles or floating candles, since every other wedding u go to there they are. I want something new and exciting. If you can help me with this it will be great! Thank you!

Getting married soon - Need help deciding for centerpiece for reception?
How about a beautiful chocolate fountain or an ice sculptre with chamane or wine or some kind of drink running through it. Or you could have a statue of a bride and groom. Good luck and congrats!

~Taylor
Reply:Since you are Indian, why not take some beautiful sari fabric in your colors and drape it over glass bowls and put some pretty dried branches standing with some candles or uplighting to give the branches an ethereal look.

Also this might be a good site for you to browse and get some ideas..

http://www.weddingsutra.com/us_index.asp

I also found this.

Kumarsambhavam

For Centerpieces:

One of India's epic poems, the eloquent story of the celestial union between Shiv and his soul mate Parvati by Kaalidas will promote the prosperity of your marriage. For the centerpiece, fill a glass bowl with water and add some lotus blossoms and floating candles to incorporate the poem into your decorations

For Favors:

Print the poem on handmade paper and don't forget to include your romantic story as well! Roll the paper and finish the piece by tying a silk ribbon around the scroll. You'll turn all your guests into hopeless romantics!
Reply:Goldfish!!!

This is adorable.

You could also use a wide low bowl with gold fish and accent with marbles or stones both in the bowl and on the table.
Reply:How about ornament grasses instead of flowers? Instead of traditional candles how about those beautiful Indian looking ornamental lanterns instead? Or maybe something traditional from your culture. Think outside of the box or you could have edible centerpieces. I have seen some great fruit bouquets. Or you could even go with a fall theme like fall leaves, which would look great against your color theme.
Reply:a warm chocolate fondue fountain, cascading down three plates full of fruit like pinapple, strawberries and bananas. congrats on you wedding and all the best to you
Reply:What about fruit in a bowl covered in water, or a a bunch of pictures of you in different places, maybe even something form your heritage,or a bowl with sand and brown %26amp; gold rocks. What ever you like will be cute. You can also check out theknot.com and change things to fit your own personality. Best wishes and good luck!!
Reply:First I have to say that candles add a look of elegance and that is why they are so popular at weddings! Having said that, here are some other ideas for you :)

1. Battery operated water fountains - you can get them at CVS.

2. Candles and Coffee Beans - Simply fill the bottom of your glass candle holder with coffee beans, and place a candle of any color in the center to be lit. You can also use several tea light candles instead of a large candle to save you some money, and it adds romantic lighting.

3. use pumpkins, spray painted gold and brown as your centerpieces

4. Picture frames to match your color scheme and print pictures of the bride %26amp; groom in "sepia" coloring....
Reply:We just did this for my sister's wedding. We bough cheap vases (a good size) fish bowls work too, we put rocks and stones in coordinating colors on the bottom, filled it with water, and put a fish in there, (my sister's colors were red, so we used red and black japanese fighting fish) and put the flowers inside that the fish could eat. (we used somesort of plant with a root that our fish could eat, but that might be just for taht type of fish) but there are really pretty gold colored fish. It was beautiful and unique and the guests could keep the centerpeice if they wanted too. It made a good decoration and favor at the same time

HOPE YOU LIKE THIS IDEA!

if you have any questions feel free to ask, I have lots of ideas!
Reply:Hi, Cover standing cake plates with fabric and tie with gold sashes. Add chocolate cupcakes in gold papers. cupcakes are the rage. I made 200 red, white %26amp; blue ones for a 4th of July wedding and they were a big hit.

More wedding ideas please??? You guys are great!!?

Hey guys, I am loving this Yahoo Answers for wedding ideas. I feel bad for people who did not have such a luxury twenty years ago getting married. Anyway, my wedding will be in my hometown of Huntington, West Virginia at an old village that takes you back to the way of life in the 1800s. The wedding and reception will be in a beautiful log church and then a big log banquet hall. My flowers, roses, and my colors, red and white. I love the idea that some people had for drinking tea from mason jars, using red and white napkins in baskets to hold biscuits and other bread. I do want it to go along with the old-fashioned 1800s theme, but I don't want to go overboard with the whole country-theme. In other words, no hay bails or overalls, lol. Can you guys suggest some elegant, old-fashioned ideas for centerpieces/decorations? I was thinking that each centerpiece does not have to be the same, right?

More wedding ideas please??? You guys are great!!?
Hang the mason jars from the ceiling beams at varying hieghts with fishing line and have votive candles lit.

Have photos of your relatives from that time period on their wedding day displayed at the entrance

Have an old fashioned photo studio set up with a photographer who can take pics of the guests on tin, leave items such as parasols, hats boas etc for them to have fun with it.

Have oil lamps on the tables surrounded by the roses as centeropieces
Reply:how about those TIN flower-watering pitchers filled with daisies...........maybe something with pussy-willows, I love them.
Reply:For centerpieces, have baskets filled with wildflowers. Each basket and the exact arrangement of flowers will be different, but they will be close enough to still have a sense of unity.
Reply:their is nothing wrong with a few square bails of hay outside for decor.

You could also get a old time bike with a basket on the front with flowers in it. Like on David's Bridal website, very old time %26amp; elegant.
Reply:maybe do the centerpeices in bigger mason jars or even galvanized pails. you could alternate them also. you could leave on a horse and buggy! That would go with it and be something your guests would remember.
Reply:First of all, and old-fashioned wedding and a country wedding aren't necessarily the same thing. Having said that, I think what you have going on so far sounds great.

I think for centerpieces, you could have different containers on each table. Some ideas: traditional vases, water pitchers, oil lamps, and any other unusual containers you might find at yard sales flea markets, antique stores, etc.

And you don't necessarily have to buy them all either. You could ask family, relatives, and friends if they have any unusual containers they could lend to you for the wedding.
Reply:What about one of those old fashioned bath basin with a pitcher and place some flowers on it. Underneath you can place a doilley! I can;t think of anything more old fashioned like that.

You can find those bath basin-pitcher sets in Cracker Barrel or antique stores. I don;t know what the proper term is for them, but you get the idea, ...

Good luck
Reply:how about putting flowers in pitchers? Especially if you can find some of the older looking enameled ones. If not for your centerpieces, place them around the room in various spots - food table, bar, ladies restrooms, etc.

I know that Huntington has a wonderful bakery (I think my husband's cousin works there!) that could make cookies for you as favors, then tie them in the same checked fabric of your basket liners.

Make use of the local library and historical society to see if any pictures of weddings or banquets from the time are available that may give you ideas for something more elegant keeping with the time period.

Here's a link to a website I hope may work for you:
Reply:Vegas Baby, Vegas! Cheap and Fun.
Reply:in many bridal mags ,people are using a mixture of fruits and flowers as centerpieces. since you are using red and white you can use red apples, pomegranates , or red plums mixed with the red and white flowers as a centerpiece.
Reply:if some people are non achohlic then use sparkling apple cider for the toast and one in kaui or maui on the beach
Reply:How about parasols for the bridesmaids?

http://www.bridalpeople.com/victorian-we...
Reply:Hey! I'm also from Huntington, WV and I attended a wedding at Heritage Farm. It's been a few years but it was nice. If your wedding is in the summer why not use some fresh summer flowers, maybe even wild flowers? You could always pick some yourself and put them in mason jars with water. If you don't want to go to that extreme then maybe some red %26amp; white roses in simple vases. You could alternate flowers with candles for something different.
Reply:I think it will look better if they are different. It you have old lace hanky's they could go under your centre pieces with the lace sticking out. (Maybe your grandma would have those.) Does someone in your family have a silver coffee service? That could be filled from a regular pot. I would have brides maids carry wild flower too, or have them in the hair. Use of ribbon like streamers would be pretty with big bows instead of bells and such. Put red table cloth down and then put lace over top.

How much is the average wedding now days?

My finace and i are getting married a year from now in houston, Texas and cant really agree on a reasonable cost for the wedding. We plan on sending out about 200 invitatiions and want to have it in the catholic church....as for reception details were unsure of and still wanna do some research on djs bands catering cakes etc..my finace says for instance ok were gonna spend 7000 dollars (which to me sounds like its not nearly enough for all of the things that are the must haves at weddings like cake food flowers etc....im not referring to chocolate fountians ice sculptors or all the other little things that are added extras, all i really want is flowers and candle center pieces at the reception as my decor..) I told my fiance that before we set some budget whether it be 7000 dollars or 20000 dollars we need to do some shopping around to get more realistic prices of things and from there decidred on an appropriate budget. So just how much should we be prepared to spend?

How much is the average wedding now days?
If you don't want all of the bells and whistles...then why spend load of money that you can use elsewhere.

Believe you me...you will regret blowing it all on just the one day!

I have seen new married couples blow 20,000 -25,000 that they could have used on a down payment for a home. Goes a lot further and makes more sense 10 years down the road!

You have to decide how elaborate you want the wedding. Do you really want 200 people? What is your wedding theme? Can you do something a little less extravagant?

You absolutely need to shop around, cutting costs at every avenue.

As a florist, I can tell you that there are florists that will rent you silk flowers. They are still as pretty...you can't even tell if their real or not until you touch them, but they are not nearly as expensive and you are not throwing your money into a perishable item. I have even done weddings where the silk arrangements at the reception were given as bridesmaids gifts...giving you a 2 for 1!

I don't know where you live, but there are florists on ebay and other areas that will do your flowers for you and ship them to you. Everything is taken care of...looks great and is a much more inexpensive way to go than to your local florist.

I would be happy to help you with any arrangements if you want to buy rather than rent the flowers....just let me know. As note, I do this for my enjoyment...not for profit, so I will not rip you off like some other people will.

plus limo, flowers, cake, favors, dj %26amp; then the honeymoon!.....there is sooo much stuff to think about.

im assuming my wedding will be around $13,500
Reply:I would say about 12000-15000.
Reply:$15,000-that is what mine is going to be about!

wedding aren't cheap!! especially if you have to pay for it by yourself-well good luck and congratulations!!
Reply:Weddings are so expensive these days. My fiance just finished paying about $50,000...and that's just for the wedding, not including the upgrade of my beautiful diamond ring.
Reply:I would say between $20000 - $25000. I'm getting married soon and a lot of couples are doing DIY (do it yourself) projects. Vendors can get really expensive and bogus so watch out. Micheals is a really good place to go. But really do some shopping. If you live in the Southern California area GO TO DOWNTOWN LA. Good Luck!
Reply:my wedding is going to have about 150 people and just food, drinks and the place is costing us 15,000. no flowers, dresses, decorations invitations, photographer, videographer, and sooo much more!
Reply:$7000 divided by 200 people is only $35 per person, and this doesn't take into account the cost of invitations, wedding gown, or any of the many other extras that go along with a traditional wedding.

You certainly CAN throw a wedding for $7000, but you'll need to be flexible about what you'll be able to offer.

We're getting married in St Thomas, and hoping to keep the costs to under $10,000 for about 15 of us, and we are then having a reception at home for about 200, and that reception will cost about $7000 (plus cake and dj), but we're having a clam bake at a picnic grove.
Reply:If I were you, unless you are seriously wealthy, I would keep it a lot smaller than 200 people. You two will be the ones stuck with the bill. We are going to have approx. 50 people (close friends and fam) and it will be running us upwards of about 7-8,000. It also depends on the place. We have seen places wanting to charge us 13,000 for 50 people. A lot of places will include your cake, DJ, photographer/videographer, etc. Try to find a package deal, if you can. Good luck and congrats!!
Reply:Well, I've been planning for my wedding and the budget was $5,000 (set by my parents) so it has been really hard and NOW the cost is closer to $10,000. We are having a really nice reception at a golf club and that takes up the majority of the cost- feeding everyone! So just plan for that, I think it's like close to $40 a person where we're having it, but you want people to remember your wedding having good food. I think $10,000 cuts it a little close, but its what I have to do now so I'd say from $10,000-$15,000 is ok for a really nice, but not the most elegant wedding/reception. If there are any people you do not absolutely have to invite, then don't invite b/c that will bring the cost down.
Reply:alot...
Reply:$7000 is just what my food costed, and we did it the cheapest way possible. you could do a wedding on that, you just need to prioritize what you want to spend on what. shopping around first is definitly the best.

my total was about $20,000 give or take.for about 170 people. that was last year and we paid for it our selfs.

What type of tea is this?

My sister brought some home from a Chinatown in Canada. The tea was not in tea bags, as I recall. It was in small pouches. You emptied the contents of the small pocket into boiled water and it brewed into a beautiful pink color. There were all sorts of flowers and pretty things (plant-originated) in it. Any ideas? If you know WHAT it is, do you know where I could buy it? I'd like to use it to float candles for my wedding reception next month, not for drinking. Thanks.

What type of tea is this?
if you are looking for the color effect, you can use a hibiscus tea, or a red zinger tea ( from bigelow)... lovely scent, beautiful colors. Hibiscus tea is found in many food specialty shops, health food stores, and cafes. Bigelow.. any supermarket... and congratulations in advance on your wedding!
Reply:if it is not to be consumed, it doesn't even have to be tea. You could go with colored water, and just a potpourri
Reply:Hibiscus tea is likely since I see it lots at the asians stores. I also see Jasmine.
Reply:kinda sounds like the black tea they serve in chinese restaurants, but I,m also inclined to say it also sounds poperie. [sp]
Reply:hibiscus

wouldn't it be cheaper to use water %26amp; red food coloring but then it wont smell like flowers
Reply:I THINK ITS ROSE HIP TEA FROM ANY HEALTH FOOD STORE
Reply:These are display teas and each one brews a pot of tea. (Please add hot water to tea and not the other way around).

Congrats on your wedding reception, but display teas are too beautiful not to enjoy the flavor as well. Don't forget to save some for relaxing after all the festivities...

Wedding flower help??

for the table in the reception the color for the linen is going to be pumking orange and chocolate brown under lay what color flowers should i do for centerpiece? would it look funny if i put orange green and some white flowers? what u think

Wedding flower help??
As these are quite bold colours I would go with white or cream flowers for the centre piece. And perhaps the odd touch or orange but I would keep this to a minimum.
Reply:i think you should do some orange and dark yellow/brownish. fall colors. try going to this website..you can pick a flower color and it has a lot of pictures of different arrangements with that color http://www.brides.com/weddingstyle/decor...
Reply:I think it really depends on the look you are going for. If you want bold then go with it and use red flowers with orange.

Monochomatic go all orange

Subtle go creams and ivorys
Reply:Well, you could just go with a basic cream color with some a hint of green. Or you could do something a little bit more bold...like this:

Orange will work with many different color flowers - you just need to decide if you want bold, subtle, etc.

Either way, it sounds like it will be beautiful.

I hope that this helped.

Good luck!
Reply:putting too much orange will blend the pumpkin orange and chocolate brown under lay. try with this white (calla lilies with some ferns or white orchids with some golden ribbons or a huge white lily as the main flower and around it is small flowers like mini mix roses)....its up to you though. maybe sit a florist and see what attracts your style and taste. good luck!
Reply:I think that chocolate and cream coloures would be great together, also baby breath arrangments will make your table much more ellegant

http://www.internetbuket.ru/index.php?al...

hope it will help
Reply:Maybe you should use mostly white with just touches of the greem and orange. That way there's more of a colot contrast between the centerpieces and you table cloths. Just make sure the colors are in the same 'shade family' and you should be fine. (Just trust your eye!) If you want a cutsie way to put together your centerpieces, you could give this a try...

Wedding Centrepieces?

Hi All. What are your thoughts for wedding reception centrepieces for our wedding next May? Our colour theme is ivory %26amp; fucshia (with Calla Lillies).

My first idea was a nice shallow glass bowl with 3 or 4 floating candles, and also some rose petals floating in the bowl too.

Then I thought it would be cool to have betta fish (or any fish for that matter, as long as they match the colour scheme) in a bowl with some of that "plastic ice" stuff in the bottom of the bowl. The only problem with this is a) what if a fish dies while people are eating? and b) i was planning on giving them to who ever wanted them but it would be difficult for people to take them home.

Then I thought that butterflies in cute little cages might be nice, but then do butterflies go to sleep at night time? what if they die? Could I have any further complications with this idea?

I want something a little more interesting then just candles in a bowl, or a flower underwater.

Any suggestions would be great!

Wedding Centrepieces?
Your idea sounds good, but I'm also thinking the same thing about "what if they die?". Surely that wouldn't look pretty. So I would go with a floating candle, or you can get a short square vase, and put some green rocks at the bottom, with some green grassy looking stems (forgot what they're called), and with a lilli or two in it. That would look awesome. Fake lillies that is so it will stay upright and pretty. :-) There's one idea for you. Hope this helps. The color theme is just beautiful. Best wishes to you and your new hubby! :-)
Reply:I would go with the fish that sounds so cool
Reply:No idea's other than to be careful of the beta fish idea. The live to be 5 years old, so it's a commitment, and they aren't real hardy fish, they don't do well when stressed and need a pretty specific Ph balance.

Caged butterflies just seem mean to me.
Reply:First, beta fish centerpieces have been out for a few years now. What's "in" is lots of soft light (candles) and color. To magnify the light use mirrors underneath the centerpieces. They aren't expensive if you buy them from Hobby Lobby - not in the wedding aisle but the craft aisle. You can buy them in any shape or size. I believe even Wal-Mart carries them.

Use hurricanes in the center of the table or smaller votives in the color you've chosen for your wedding. Use colored glass pebbles or ribbon of the same color. If you don't want to use mirrors with the centerpiece use tuelle the color of your wedding and bunch it up around the candle centerpiece so that it flows sloftly around the candle.

An idea: I did a wedding once where we used angels on the main table with the cake. I bought the statues at Hobby Lobby in the garden department.and painted them soft white tipped in gold. On the main table you don't want everything the same height so I used sturdy boxes painted white and turned upside down and draped them in white tuelle so you couldn't tell they were boxes. 3 different heights on the main table is a good look. Then I placed the angels on each level with votives at the base of each statue.

Just wander through Hobby Lobby. You might find smaller angels or even cupids from Valentine's day.

Go through these pages. I found some really cute heart coasters .

Reply:My sister in law had fish in bowls as her centre piece. They actually found a pet store that "lent" them the fish for a fee and they paid extra for any that died. If you can find somewhere that does this, you wont have to worry about what to do with them after your big day.

The fish were fed beer and mint lollies at some tables and they handled it pretty well!
Reply:I like the fish idea, why not just buy a big aquarium for your house for after the wedding - or maybe you have a niece or nephew you could get an aquarium for? I doubt the fish would die during the meal, have somebody check shortly before the wedding to make sure all the fishies are okay! Please just dont have random ppl take them home, make sure they have somewhere to go!
Reply:We got married in the tropics and had a tropical themed reception back home afterwards. We bought clear glass bowls, little plastic jewels (clear but in all sorts of different colors), seashells and orchids. The shells and jewels we put in the bottom of the bowls and filled them with water. Then we had blue, white and magenta orchids floating on top. It was really pretty and looked great! I would steer clear of the fish and butterflies as it is always possible one could die, which really wouldn't be good!!!
Reply:Fish are cute if somebody will take care of them after ward. Remeber it's a living thing!

...Perhaps hurricanes in your colors?
Reply:I would definitely make sure that the bettas would have good homes before you decide to put them in the centerpieces!!

My first job was working at the local community center, I was a set up person for weddings and events. One day, we went in to clean up and found that dozens of bettas had been left in their bowls in the banquet room overnight.. My boss had us flush them, and I felt terrible!!

Also, if you decide to do bettas don't plant a flower in the top of the vase as many people do, if there are objects blocking off the top of the vase then the bettas don't receive enough oxygen and suffer.

I would nix the butterfly idea, they are expensive and are indeed fragile as others have mentioned. I had wanted to do a butterfly release for my wedding but I couldn't fully justify it, I would never want to harm innocent creatures! :(

Good luck!
Reply:Transformers G1 Devastator statue.
Reply:Don't use fish. No one wants to look at fish poop while the eat and they really don't want to look at a dead fish. Most people will not want to take home a fish and some might be offended by fish as centerpieces.

Butterflies at weddings are considered unhumane, just don't.

Anything that is living could offend your guests if used as a centerpiece.

What about wrapping the favors in bright paper, stacking them on a cake stand and using that as a centerpiece?

You could also do mini cakes for each table and use them as centerpieces.

Or you could get antique looking bird cages and use those as centerpieces (minus the birds).

You could use hot pink and white potted orchids (people will want to take them home).

You could get some white shells and arrange them.

Martha Stewart has a cute idea for arranging flowers in a heart: http://www.marthastewart.com/portal/site...

What about a cluster of ivory and fushia candles on a mirror, maybe with some feathers?
Reply:Ok so im not too creative..lol but..ABOUT THE FISH!..they're cute and all..but hunny THEY WILL DIE! its not a what if thing..@ my cuzns wedding..ALL THE FISH HAD DIED..AND IT LOOKED SO HORRIBLE OH MY GOODNESS! AVOID THE FISH ! :)
Reply:Well. Congrats on getting married. Hope you guys are happy together, I really like fish idea. As long as you dont go and buy them from walmart... frfom a reputable store.. they should make it through the night. Though I love the idea, and think It would be something people would talk about for a long long time... heres another idea. Take Cake plates with intresting glass on the bottom, such as interesting texture and put candles on top.. Though not very unique, I think it is elegeant and pretty. I also really really like the butterflies. I think as long as you get them that day, and it is not like super hot or cold in their you should be fine.. and if it dies.... people will have memories. lol but again great Ideas!! and I love the color scheme
Reply:my friend did the beta fish thing. It was cute! At first I thought it was cruel, but it wasn't any crueler than seeing them in little plastic cups in the Wal-mart aisle.

I think the floating candles in bowls would be very pretty. You could set the bowls on a mirror that would reflect the light and water. The petals could be spread on the table around the bowl. Very romantic...
Reply:Just a few thoughts I have on these ideas.

1. (it may be just me) I cant eat when something is staring at me(goldfish) especially if fish is on the menu

2. If you go with using the "plastic ice" make sure you wash these well first because there is something on them that kills the fish.

3. You can put perfectly healthy looking fish in the bowls but you cant guarantee they wont die (also if you have kids coming you cant be sure they wont feed them something and kill them) --we are having kids in and at our wedding/reception so i am not saying dont have kids

4. same goes with butterflies. they are really fragile and you have to make sure they dont get to hot, too cold etc..

Here is an idea for you.

get one of those big wine glasses (martini glass-$9.97 @micheals) put a flower arrangement that fits in it and add the glass rocks in (no water) I will try to find a picture of what I'm talking about. Micheals had them on display and they looked really pretty.

Added Info: ok cant find what I'm looking for but came across this website that has lots of ideas;

Reply:Candles go out, fish die, people might even get offended by having live animals used as decoration. Find a great florist that will make something interesting and save yourself the stress of the variable situations that will happen during your wedding. I actually used herbs instead of flowers, so there was a nice wafting smell through the entire night. Maybe calla lilies and lavender or lilacs? Or another fragrant fuschia flower?
Reply:The fish are a novel idea but I tend to agree with those that say they could offend some people. And as for the fish getting fed beer %26amp; mint lollies ~ yes, some people WILL go that far!!

My girlfriend had beautiful floral centrepieces made up with lovely little dedication %26amp; thank you notes attached to each one so that a particular guest got to take the centrepiece home.

Other than that, floating candles in small bowls but nothing too high as they will get in the way.

Good luck!
Reply:betas are easy to care for.

you just need to change their water and feed them.

you can even get flat glass marbles to fill the bottom with.

they are hearty fish and won't die during the ceremony.
Reply:I did the beta fish and people went crazy for them. I planted a peace lily in the top of the bowl, and put natural stones in the bottom. I had little scrolls with care instuctions and little baggies of fish food for people to take with the fish.

Beta fish are very hearty and do not die easily like a gold fish. But you cannot float a candle on top of the water; that will kill the fish.

Surprising Bride-to-be on Wedding Day - Need Ideas ?

My wedding is at the beginning of July, 2007.

We are going to be apart the night before the wedding, and during the wedding preparations on the day.

I want to surprise her by doing something or give something that tells her that I love and miss her.

Flowers on the morning of the wedding are not really an options because we are going away after the wedding.

To help, the wedding ceremony and reception will be in a hotel.

Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks

Surprising Bride-to-be on Wedding Day - Need Ideas ?
I agree with a beautiful note, but maybe accompanying something else if you have the money. Could you make her an appointment at the Spa that day? What about an engraved piece of jewelry with your wedding date? Or even her favorite perfume to wear that day. I am sure anything you write, do, or buy will be sincere and beautiful. She is very lucky to have such a thoughtful man. Congrats on your wedding! God Bless!
Reply:Write her a poem and read it out to her infront of everyone
Reply:aww that is so sweet and cute... i think you should send her a little love note and a rose what ever color but i would go with yellow or pink or something cause red is so typical so i hope you choose the best thing for her..

Reply:Hi Gordon,

This may not be to your liking, but on my wedding day some 25 years ago, I inserted a row of sparklers into the top hat, and had my Best Man to set fire to them for the outside of the church photographs.

It was appreciated by all.

The cake at the hotel had sparklers, everyone had bloomin' sparklers.

My silly idea, but it made the day a spectacle.

Worth a go.

Premature Congratulations to you and your Bride.

Reply:Have someone deliver a bracelet that she can wear during the ceremony.

My friend's groom had a box from Tiffany's delivered to the bride in the waiting room, at the church, before the ceremony. It was an inscribed silver bracelet. She loved it, it was so classy and such a memorable moment.
Reply:Aww, you're so sweet!! You should send something up to her room - this could be anything you like really. You could just send her a little note saying that you love and miss her and can't wait to be man and wife, or you could send a little package with chocolates or pampering stuff such as body lotion and perfume. If you ask one of the hotel staff to take this to her I'm sure they will oblige. I think it would make her smile and banish any nerves she may have! Congratulations and good luck x x

Suggestions for a beach themed wedding?

OK, so I want a beach themed wedding. Here is what I am planning: Married at sunset, reception at night. Outdoors, white christmas lights, white candles lit, and white flowers here and there. I want a bonfire and I want the food to be barbequed on site. Not too formal, but still very nice.

I need ideas on a cute guest book, favors, invitations, and cake decoration. And whatever else you can think of!

Thanks!

Reply:my sister is having a beach theme wedding. www.theknot.com has some great ideas. for invites you can make your own with a kit that you can by at any craft store. add a few touches of your own to them like a sea shell at the top with a bow that is the same colors as your bridal party. for favor margarita glass are cute, and cheap at the Oriental trading company. for cakes look at www.theknot.com, they have great pics of really nice beach cakes. there is an all white and has white seashelss on it, it is very pretty.
Reply:You're going to have hungry guests standing around waiting for food. Having it catered is fast, efficient, and the caterers do the set up. I think you should reconsider that barbeque on site. A hundred things could go wrong. Getting several foods to come together at one time for numerous guests is no easy feat.
Reply:I’m doing a beach themed wedding myself, in April 2008 with about 150 people. We are having the reception and the wedding all in the same banquet hall room...Our colors are Periwinkle, dark purple and white.

I’ll be creating a “pirate’s chest” card box, with beads, fake jewels, gold wrapped chocolate coins…and for favors, I’m going to give away little periwinkle bags of 5 gold wrapped chocolate coins.

We're doing fish bowl centerpieces filled with periwinkle gravel, seashells, water and floating candles. The fish bowls will be surrounded by fisherman's netting and more seashells. The wedding cake is "Under the sea and on the beach"...the first two layers will look like they are under water, with sea life and blue icing, the top of the second layer will be covered with crushed raw sugar like sand. We're including our two dogs, so two dog figures dressed up with a bowtie and a veil will be laying on the "beach" and on top of the cake will be two palm trees in the shape of a heart.

Periwinkle and white are the main colors...bridesmaids are going to be in "Peri" from david's bridal. The dark purple is only an accent color in the flowers. I wanted a blue color for the beach theme, but I didn't like any of the David's Bridal colors of blue other than Periwinkle.

My best friend designed my veil...the comb has white seashells and white silk roses with pearls on it

Do a search for Beach Wedding on Ebay. There are a number of Guest Book/Pen sets with seashells on them, perfect for your beach theme.

Also on Ebay: Send and Seal invitations. They are all in one invitations that you fold up and put a sticker on, then mail the whole invitation without envelopes. The RSVP card is attached to the inside of the invite, gets torn off and mailed back like a post card. It is an affordable and informal way to do your invitations. There are seashell designs available on ebay that will also fit the beach theme. :)
Reply:You should get tiki torches going up the aisle. I like your ideas so far, sounds beautiful! I've always wanted to get married on a beach barefoot.

Ask your guests to wear all white or something linen %26amp; casual.

Best wishes %26amp; congratulations!
Reply:Go to www.orientaltradding.com they have a lot of cute things.

Good Luck!!!
Reply:Favors: Go to a craftstore and buy a couple bags of seashells then glue them to a glass or plastic votive candle holder. You can add colored sand to it too in the colors of your wedding. Take one of the shells glue a pretty piece of paper with yours and your fiances name on it and the date inside then glue this to one side of the votive. You don't have to use paper, you can just write it inside of the shell. Insert a candle, some candy around it and tie it up in cellophane. Another idea is tiny picture frames with seashells glued to it, you can put a pic of you and your fiance inside, or leave it blank for them to use.

Guest book: Take a piece of brown wrapping paper, ina ny length you want. If its a large wedding make sure its at least 3 feet long. Using a lighter carefully burn the edges to make a nice border. At the top of the page, glue a small piece of hemp yarn across the top to create a border. Above this in bold print of your choice, use a nautical print, place the date and your and your fiances names. At the reception, make sure everyone signs your scroll...You could even decorate the pen and pen holder with the rope or even some shells.

Invitations: Make shell shaped invitations, or print them yourself on beach printed paper.

Cake: Have a fondant cake made to reflect the beach. It can have sugar sand on it and a bride and groom in bathing suits. Pretty much anything you can think of can be done for the right price.

Oh and Tiki Torches provide good lighting, with the right ambience....

Good luck!
Reply:Ok, the invitations should look like corals. My sis did that and everyone loved it!

Reply:Tell me what you think....I am planning a wedding in Hawaii for June/July of next year and when we come home we are having a dinner party(sorta kinda)...I havn't decided how I am going to use this idea but here it goes......I am going to do a message in a bottle. I am going to use a sand colored piece of paper, burn the edges a little, but some sand in a bottle and write personal messages to my bridal party, or use them as reception invites or wedding announcements. I am having more of a cocktail party type reception where everyone wears white or linen and then afterwards the guys and girls are going to split up for our bachelor parties( I know we will be married, but we are o.k. with having one more night of fun)...we wont get to do the bachelor/bachelorette before we leave because we will be living in a different state from all of our real family and friends. We are going to eat stuff like shrimp kabobs, and crab salad and fruit trays and good alcohol!
Reply:dolphins, whales, go to home depot and buy sand, salty water
Reply:here is a site i found that has beach themed wedding favors and other items that you can buy but i am sure you can do a couple yourself if you wanted to hope they help
Reply:Go to orientaltradingcompany.com they have real cute inexpensive stuff.

Good Luck. By the way; that sounds really nice romantic.

Have fun, and congrats!!!!!!!

Evening reception centerpieces?

i'm getting married at the end of september we're having a very small wedding and reception in my in laws backyard. the thing is i havent exactly decided on a theme yet. i wanted to do something with flowers and candles. my mother in law wants to use flower centerpieces. i think because the reception is going to be at night having a lot of flowers would be a waste because you wont really be able to see the beauty of the flowers. Besides they can become expensive. I think we should use candle centerpieces. I just need some ideas of something that would work with the two together. everything i see online is done indoors or during the day or is just way too much going on. I'm a very simple person....someone please help

Evening reception centerpieces?
First of all congrats! I am getting married Sept 27. Our reception hall has a very dim lighting so I did not want to use flowers either. They are expensive, but I wanted to small touch of flowers around. I went to Michaels and bought fishbowls. I am going to put flora gel in them. Inside the gel I have waterproof lights that are the color of my wedding colors. Then on top of the gel, I am just going to be the flower of a Gerber daisy on top, not the stem. Then on other tables I got glass rocks and we are going to put Betta fish in them and use the water proof lights. Then for the head table, I bought tall cylinder vases I am going to fill them with colored water and put a Gerber daisy in them. Then on top I am going to put a paper lantern that runs on batteries. I got those at the dollar store.

The fishbowls were a 1.68 a piece

The gel is 2.99 a bag and makes 1 1/2 quarts at hobby lobby

It is really inexpensive and unique

Just some ideas, hope I can help some!
Reply:Day or night, having massive flowers everywhere will create a magical mood. It's once in a lifetime right? It's worth spending a few hundred more....just to make the mood right.

Candles is the best idea for a night event. Just have a bowl of floating tea-lights, and surround the sides with flowers. or else, just have a tall candle in the centre, and surround it with flowers like christmas decor....
Reply:I say go with mostly candles but a have a couple of flowers. You dont need huge floral centerpieces but have a vase with just a couple of flowers and some candles to highlight.
Reply:Floating flower shapped candels would be very pretty. or just floating candels it would look very simple yet nice and classy.
Reply:Hi and congratulations!

You could go either way with this. I do love flowers myself, something simple like a few roses in a bud vase with some greens....and then place around that lots of small votive candles to light things up.

Another idea would be to incorporate something really elegant looking like this:

http://www.bridalpeople.com/LargePix.asp...

The centerpiece pictured above would give you both the flowers AND the candlelight!

Another idea woud be to use lanterns like these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-10-WEDDING-LARGE...

These would look really nice and would add lots of light if you used a good size candle (like the one pictured.) The only problem with this is (if you get them off of Ebay), it is a lot to ship these.

If you have an IKEA store near you, they also sell lanterns. You may even check places like Pier One, Kohls, and even stores such as Lowe's and Home Depot in their "outdoor" section.

Can anyone recommend a reputable company for a Oahu Destination Wedding?

My Fiance and I are planning a destination wedding (with abou100 guest attending) I have researched so many wedding companys that offer beach wedding packages. We are planning a reception following the ceremony. Can anyone recommend a company to provide a beach front wedding (minister, flowers, chairs, photography etc) that reputable? We are looking for quality and professionalism.

Also, any recommendations for travel agents or company that can provide my wedding party and guests with decent pricing since there are quite a few people going? Great group rate discounts?

Thank you, I just feel like there is so much to do and I don't know where to start.. (I haven't even chosen wedding colors)

I have reserved the "Halekulani Hau Terrace and Lanai" for the reception but have a week to give the deposit. Has anyone used this area before or suggest otherwise? Thanks..

Can anyone recommend a reputable company for a Oahu Destination Wedding?
I'm surprised that the Halekulani can't give you someone to help you as part of their service - lots of hotels will. Get a wedding planner - here's a link or two - check out Hawaii Bride mag's also

Tell him Pastor April sent you.
Reply:Hawaii beach weddings are great. Ive heard of Lanai and seen it on the tele too. Check out the websites for both the places you have reserved and find out all the first hand information on the net.
Reply:My hubby and I used www.wedaloha.com. We had a much smaller wedding, but they did a great job and walked us through everything from start to finish. And the pics were STUNNING. Can't recommend them highly enough. We got married on Waialae Beach, and it was gorgeous - but they do offer several other beautiful locales if you like. Congrats, and good luck with your planning!

Planning a Wedding in Miami, FL?

Hello I'm planning on having my wedding in Miami, FL. I am a resident, but I was just hoping for any type of information as far as, reception, ceremonies, flowers, cost, colors, photos, etc.... from couples who have recently gotten married in Miami. I know weddings can be pretty expensive these days and the economy is so bad so I was hoping to get an in-site from all of you. Especially the Wedded Ladies. Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone, I am getting married on 4-21-07 and i need help. plz let me know how to have a cheap wedding.?

I have some things already taking care of. like the flowers my aunt is doing. grandma is doing the cake. soon to be mother in law doing the food. i really need help with decorrations and brides maids dresses.and ideas of where to have the wedding and reception. please help!

Hello everyone, I am getting married on 4-21-07 and i need help. plz let me know how to have a cheap wedding.?
Have the wedding in the courthouse, and skip the reception.

Guaranteed to save you money.
Reply:well you are wanting to do something nice. Go to a dollar tree get some balloons, the streamers. they have wedding decorations there. but the dresses well i can think of going to walmart to get them they have some nice dressy dresses there. The reception maybe having it at a relatives home or a park
Reply:avoid reception
Reply:You can get companies to sponsor your wedding. Companies want future business, so if you let them advertise their business at your wedding then you will get their services for free or at a low cost. Like the catorer, they will have samples of different dishes, besides your meals. The concept works for everyone that does your wedding, not sure of the photographer, though I've been to ones where disposable cameras were at the table and we took pictures of eachother at the table and gave it to the bride and groom. Congratulations
Reply:For the BM dresses try http://www.weddingdressonline.com their dresses are lovely, with a good selection at amazing prices. I've just ordered mine %26amp; I can't wait for them to get here! The reception venue doesn't need to be anywhere extravagant - as long as it has a bar %26amp; somewhere for the band/DJ. Everything will get sorted - don't worry too much!
Reply:Well honestly that depends on your locality...if you are in a cold place like up here in Wisconsin...that is a little harder...but I know up here there are old country churches that don't mind hosting a small wedding party...a park (they usually have pavilions you can use for a small fee)....someone's spring flower garden...a beach (that might be a little cold due to the early spring breeze)...a back yard....the opening to a woods or wooded area...literally...the sky is the limit...and even then..it is not really..lol..same with receptions...In fact..It might be memorable to have it in someone's yard..like your grandmothers (maybe they have had a great marriage and you want that to carry into yours..etc)...whoever you ask...They usually are very honored to be able to host the event..

I don't know what you have as far as officiant's go..but usually the justice's of the peace will travel for a small fee...better than getting married in a courthouse..lol...although most officiants only charge around 150 or so for their services...

Decorations depends on how cheap you want to go...my guess is you want to go cheap with out looking cheap...(like alot of my brides...lol)...Well one of the cheapest ways i have found is using those mirrors that you see everyone place their centerpieces on (which can be found at Wal-Mart)....and usually you can find things to make your centerpieces on at the dollar store...anything from candles (make sure they are contained) to rose petals...to anything...lol...(that's a sure way to keep the budget down on the decorations)....all you need is some creativity:-)

And last but not least...the bridesmaid dresses...:-)...I am sure you are well aware of David's Bridal...lol..which bride isn't..but honestly...if you are looking for an extremely affordable way to get bridesmaid dresses..there are sometimes consignment dress shops in the area that carry exclusively formal wear (the only downer with that one is you have to sift through a lot of old stuff in order to find what you are looking for)....either that or eBay...but usually you have no idea what you are getting with eBay..lol..

Anyways..i hope that helped a little...Happy planning;-)
Reply:You asked for a cheap wedding..here it is....go to the courthouse sign the papers and then go home to make love top your new hubby. Can't get cheaper than that.
Reply:Congratulations!

If you are in a warm area, what about getting married in a park, and have ea. guest bring a dish for potluck lunch or supper? Paper plates, and plastic cutlery hot and cold drinks and cups supplied by you. Of course you would supply the cake too! Put disposable cameras on each table so that the guests take the pictures of your wedding day for you.

For your dress and that of the bridesmates, what about renting them at a costume shop? Have a "theme" wedding! Dollar stores have great decorations and wonderfull plastic flowers at very affordable prices! Get inventive. They also have plates , plastic ware and tableclothes that match! The whole thing will probably cost less than $500 for a nice affair depending on the size of your wedding party and number of guests!.
Reply:It really depends on your remaining budget and where you're having the wedding and reception. If you and your bridesmaids agree to this ask them to pay for their own dresses (I know that is the norm for some couples and taboo for others) and if they say that they cannot then you should look into renting the bridesmaids dresses or buying them on sale from David's Bridal or somewhere like that. As far as the wedding and reception go you should pick a hall that is already decorated or they will do the decorations for you. My cousin rented a Mason (I'm not sure of the social groups name) lodge for a really cheap price and it was a small hall but it was beautiful and clean. Ask around someone in your area has to have some good ideas for you to keep your wedding cheap and under budget.

PS. If the cost of the honeymoon is also a concern you can have guests donate gifts (money) to send you and your spouse on a honeymoon.
Reply:I have a friend that is using a restaurant for the wedding and reception. It is a good idea.
Reply:Have you considered getting married at the courthouse or home of a Justice of the Peace, and just having a reception afterward? If any of your relatives have a good-sized house or yard, they may be willing to host the party as a wedding gift to you.

Really, weddings themselves are generally the same across the board; it's the closeness of family that makes it a special occasion, so why not concentrate your efforts on the party? Just a thought.
Reply:dresses are the bride maids responsibility and a reception can be held in a big yard if its nice out congrats
Reply:For decorations and the likes, try going to a party supply warehouse. Often times they will sell items at cost or below. Places like Liquidation world may offer what you are looking for.

As for bridesmaid dresses, generally they are the responsibility of the bridesmaid to provide. If you want to be really nice, just have them all go out and choose a dress that makes them all look decent for a reasonable price.

For the reception, try a restaurant, local hall, or even a botanical garden. I know the city run botanical garden will host weddings for a donation of $400. Besides the cheap price, there is a beautiful setting for pictures!
Reply:Reception could be tough if you haven't already booked a place. I suggest seeing if a relative is a member of like a club with a banquet hall like knights of columbus, or some American legions. For the most part they are members only, but they will allow members to book for other people and they relatively cheap. Otherwise depending on your locale you could try to rent a pavillion at a nearby park and have the reception there.
Reply:I got married on 11/09/06. Me and my husband did things relatively cheap. We went to the Knight of Columbus, it costs us 500 to rent the hall for 7 hours. His grandmother did all the cooking. Go to places like Party City and WalMart or Michaels for decorations. I got my dress from david's bridal for 200.00 and my bridesmaid dresses were only 79.00. They paid for their own dresses and shoes and I brought their jewelry from Claires boutique and their necklaces from Walmart 5.00 a piece. I brought my slip for my dress off of ebay for 40.00 and I got my tiara from Michaels and my shoes from shoebuy.com for 85.00. I had two garters one was from Walmart and the other from the dollar tree. You can buy bubbles from dollar tree. They are about 8 pack for a dollar if you don't want to throw rice. I had disposable cameras at the table so that we would get some fabulous pictures. And they turned out great. We had our wedding and the reception in the same room at the Knights of Columbus. Hope this helps you and Congrats....

Wedding package on a budget?

my aunt is getting married and is looking for a wedding package(minister, dress and tux rental, flowers, cake ,reception, photos and chapel or outside garden ceremony) does anyone know anywere in pennsylvania were they do this for under 1000.00

Wedding package on a budget?
OK, j%26amp;b bridal i got my dress from in c-burg, we did our flowers ourselves, for $100, the dress was $464. I did the cake myself, as i am a cake artist$50, and renting the amvets was $50, and the food was $50. my mom worked there. we gave the minister $25 for 1/2 day of helping and doing the vows and since there was NO alcohol, it was relatively cheap. YOu were there, lol. we didn't have alot of people, but we had enough food for 50.

I did the invites my self on my computer, $30. The DJ was a gift from my moms bf at the time.

Let me know when she is getting married, I might be able to do her wedding cake for 'cost and gas'.

YES IT IS POSSIBLE TO DO A WEDDING UNDER $1000 YOU MORONS!!! go take a flying leap cause it don't have to cost thousands of dollars to do a wedding!!!!
Reply:Good Luck!
Reply:The only place I've heard of such packages in Las Vegas, but probally you won't be able to find that deal anywhere else.

PS/ You say that you are not "willing" to travel nine hours either, I believe that you are asking for too much.

I concur. Good Luck
Reply:That is a very low budget to get a package. The only thing that she can do is to do it all herself with the help of you and other relatives. Only invite immediate family, close relatives, and close friends. She can invite some of her co-workers but I think that will be a problem since those who are not invited will not be too happy about it. She either invites all of her co-workers or none at all. She can have the ceremony in her backyard. There are plenty of cheap dress and tux rental. For flowers, she won't be able to get those fancy ones. She needs to go to a market and assemble them herself. Just go online and look at flower arrangements sample and copy the ones that she likes the most. For reception, since she will be having it in her backyard she can have the reception inside the house. She will have to cook the food herself or she can have a caterer do it for her. A caterer will cost more money so I think cooking the food herself is better. Have some light hors d' oeuvres like fruit and cheese, chicken skewers, crab cakes, etc (simple items). She can get some martinelli's, soft drinks, bottled water, champagne, and wines. For the main entree she can have salad, chicken or salmon or beef. For the dessert she can serve the wedding cake. The wedding cake doesn't have to be expensive. She can spend a bit money of the studio photos since she will be keeping those forever. Good luck!
Reply:what area of pa because i might know some in the bloomsburg area, but i dont know if that would be any help to you
Reply:They have these places everywhere... Look online!!!

PS it's much cheaper if you do it your self and not buy a packaged ordeal!
Reply:Ditto Opalescent-Angel's answer - good luck is really all I can say. There's no way you're going to find everything you've listed for less than $1,000. It's just not going to happen.

The only way to keep a wedding that cheap is to wear an outfit you already own, hold it in someone's backyard with your own (or borrowed) tables, chairs, table cloths, etc, have someone bake your cake as a gift and some others do the cooking (buffet style) as a gift. You aren't going to find a package that cheap.
Reply:I have never in life heard of a wedding that all inclusive. My goodness. That doesn't exist. For $1,000 you can probably buy a cheap dress, have the groom wear a suit, invite 20 people to a church, pay an officiant, carry a bouquet and rent out a private room at a nice restaurant and pay for everyone to have dinner and a nice cake.
Reply:try this for flowers they ship.
