I need a unique idea for wedding centerpieces??

No fish bowls, no flowting candles, no flowers in a vase. I wan't something diferent. My colors are lavender and sage green. It is a daytime outdoor wedding and reception so even though I will have some candles I don't think they should be the focus since it will be bright out side. The wedding is in August. Any other decorating ideas would be apreciated.

Buy large prisms and put them on mirrors with small tealights. SInce you are having an outdoor daytime wedding (and hopefully it will be sunny) the sunlight will stream through the prisms and cast dancing rainbows all over the table.
Reply:these are cute torch centerpieces

Reply:I saw this on TV on one of those wedding shows and I thought it was a cool idea. They had little umbrellas in their wedding colours and had different things hanging from them. I couldn't quite make out what they were..I think they might have been oragami or something. But none the less it sounds retarded but it actually looked pretty cool. The girl on the show wanted something different that totally did not involve flowers or candles. You could always make one and play around with it and give it a try.
Reply:How about getting some plums and having natural centerpieces. Get large fancy bowls, and pile in a bunch of plums, mix in some big lemon leaves, that could be really pretty and the plums will go well with your color since they are deep purple, so they will match your colors.
Reply:I could think of two ideas....

1) topiary with your lavendar and sage green baby ribbons

2) flowerboxes with grass and individual Cookie Pops planted.
Reply:Not sure if you have round or long tables. If you have a long table how about a runner made flowers (would serve a dual purpose - plus you said no flowers in a vase...you didn't so no flowers period) or I know at some weddings people take the center pieces home (if you want them to) how about a small pile/stack of gift boxes wrapped in your colors and then put something cute inside. You said no fish bowls, what about decorated terricata (sp?) pots with potted plants, that you can put in your home after. You can paint them with your colors...

Just a few thoughts.

Have fun and congrats!!!!
Reply:How about using something that is an interest or hobby that you and your fiance have, such as birdhouses, photographs, car models, etc. Or you can have your centerpieces do double duty by having a plate of cookies, or a small cake that the people at the table can cut and eat for dessert. Since most bakers and reception venues charge per slice, rather than per cake, then they should be willing to make cakes that serve 10-12 people per table. If they have a problem with this, then question why they charge per slice, if they aren't willing to work this way.
Reply:you could do cute photographs. at a friends wedding she got a cylander vase that had a slit between two sheets of glass that she put photos in the wrapped all the way around. and then she added a cute gerber daisy to each vase. my aunt used cute lanterns at hers. whatever interests you.
Reply:We had bouquets of helium balloons in the bridal colors and cellophane bags of candy (you can order M%26amp;Ms in almost any color, printed with a message, like "Melissa and Dan, June 30, 2007").

There are also very small tabletop fountains that can sit on tables, or fun things like tabletop zen gardens (trays filled with fine sand and tiny gardening tools), or bonsai trees surrounded by miniatures), or flowers in unconventional containers (best I've seen - country wedding, flowers in old cow-shaped creamers and crockery bought at yard sales). Another wedding had piles of Lego bricks and the guests made their own centerpieces.

It depends on the style of the wedding. Small baskets of cookies, decorated guords (with designed drawn on with a burning tool). even small ceramic figurines can work. Just note that candles + sun = wax puddle, and food items should be wrapped (colored cellophane works nicely) so they don't attract bugs.
Reply:Yay! We have the same colors!

I'm actually still trying to come up with a creative center piece myself. I'm toying with a couple of ideas now.

One is making a crystal bouquet or at least using some crystals and something else - flowers, if I can't think of anything else. They're actually really easy and pretty quick and inexpensive to make:

Another thing my fiance and I are toying with the idea of... is having celebration trees: http://www.blissweddingsmarket.com/store...

We'd decorate it a bit with our colors, but we'd also have bits of paper the guests could write their wishes/thoughts/advice/jokes to you on and then hang on the trees.

Other than those two things, I've got nothing - lol. I'm still trying to think of something better.
Reply:I have seen many people use paper mache balls in a nice bowl on their coffee table. I think that could look nice as a center piece. It would also be better than flowers or many other things because it won't die, people can take it home, and you can see over it to talk with other people at the table. You could have some family or friends that really want to help do it. When they are dry they can be painted with your colors. A good base would be the foam balls they sell at craft stores.
Reply:What about a simple frosted plate in the green color and put some stones or marbles or the glass pieces of the Lavender color in the center of the plates to look like a small waterscape scene. that is an outdoorsie kindda thing and is different. Or get those bells with the loop on top (the ones used for people to ring for the bride and groom to kiss) and put pictures of you and your fiance in them as you are growing up. Some pictures of you as a baby, then elementary school, middle school and high school etc. same for your fiance.
Reply:this is what I'm going to do for my center pieces I'm going get some bamboo that's allready potted then around the bamboo put roses at the base I'm going to use fake plants at guest tables and stick some really nice looking silk lillies in there to :)
Reply:What about some floating flowers in a bowl, something like gardenias that would smell great. The bowls could have a tall base so that they weren't sitting flat on the table.
Reply:I saw a pic of a August wedding with sage and green. They built flower boxes for the tables out of wood. They dyed them a dark coffee color but you can use your fav.

They were lined with plastic to keep from leaking and then they planted wheat grass (you know that stuff health nuts drink...you can buy it at store too) in the planters and let it grow for about a week. Its a very grassy green and was about 6 inches tall.

She made jewel sticks by putting purple crystal beads on the end of wire and then inserted them throughout the grass so it sparkled a little in the sun.

She bought tealights, wrapped a sage and purple ribbon around the silver base and put them along the bottom of the planter and sprinkled lavender that she bought in bulk instead of rose petals. It smelled amazing and look very clean and classy.

She wasn't into the frilly flower look so she played up the outdoor concept. Some other things she did:

*Artifical grass to make covers for the chair seats

*Backs of chairs were all tied with a organza sash and a hydrangea from her yard that morning.

*At like every other table she had bought a tree sapling that she put a bamboo placemat w/ ribbon to hid the ugly pot. The trees were given to guests to plant afterwards

*Might sound funny but burlap table runners look awesome

*To put boquets in she had galvanized buckets instead of vases

*cocktail hour was lemonade and donut holes

*Hung the usual paper lanterns but spray painted them in shades of purple, greens, and silvers instead of lighting them

There is tons more but you'd have to email me and jog my memory. It wasnt really a "theme" wedding but turned out gorgeous.
Reply:My best friend did something VERY creative and something completly different. She got a clear fish bowl that was larger though, and decorated the top with ribbons to match the wedding colors, inside she had butterflies. At the end of the night, there was a part where one person was each table let the butterflies go. It was very different and cool to see!
