What are the cheapest and tastiest hors d’ oeuvres I can use at my wedding ?

just something for guests to nibble on while waiting for the reception hall to be opened. I want to also use 2 mixed cocktail drinks and a fruit drink as i think this may actually be cheaper. I had wanted to use pink and green martini when my wedding colours were green and pink however the wedding colours are more something like green from plants and flowers with carmel, gold, a rustic orange something like that. please help

What are the cheapest and tastiest hors d’ oeuvres I can use at my wedding ?
hors d’ oeuvres are always a challenge. Cheapest options include veggies, cheeses, etc. But use your colors or flavors to help enhance things. a cracker topped with caramel blended cream cheese and an apple slice is green and pale gold, is sweet and savory. spinach artichoke dip is very inexpensive to create/have catered and is a hit. Try lettuce wraps around chicken salad, shrimp cocktails, or cranberries, or bruschetta (amazing flavors and available by the pound at the Fresh Market).

As far as martinis or drinks go, look into mixing a signature drink - lemon drop martinis, malibu and lemonade, adam and eve martinis (vodka, apple pucker and lemonade, rimmed with cinnamon) - color of greens and rustics, and a serious taste. Hope this helps, and congrats on your marriage!
Reply:cheap: cracker and cheese platter, fresh fruit platter

cheap, tasty, and easy: stuffed mushrooms, mini pizzas, mini empanadas or mini eggrolls, shrimp cocktail (but I don't know what to do about the tails), cocktail meatballs (the grape jelly ones are always a hit).

think small. anything tiny can be an hors d' oeuvre. just serve them on nice platters and you'll be fine.

what's wrong with sour apple martinis and cosmopolitans? or pomegranate lemon drops?
Reply:Veggie, Fruit and Cheese/Cracker displays are cheap. Add a crab dip served with soft sliced french bread if your budget allows. Or for a little more elegance, have just 3 hors d'oeuvres passed.

Green Drinks:

Apple martini

Midori Sour

Caramel/Gold Drinks:

Caramel apple martini

Manhattan martini

Orange Drinks:

Amaretto Flirt (amaretto %26amp; oj in martini glass)

Passion Shooter (gin, Absolut Mandrin, passionfruit)

Mimosa (champagne %26amp; oj...add Grand Marnier for a kick)
Reply:My step-daughter had as assortment of cheeses and crackers and bread. She also had stuffed mushrooms, and cold shrimp. That along with the drinks kept everyone happy until the reception started.

Congrats on your upcoming nuptials!
Reply:Are you having it catered or fixing your own?

If you're using a caterer, read over their menu. If you're going the DIY route, the frozen section of Costco/Sam's has a huge selection that are all inexpensive and they just have to be heated and served.

I'm usually content with cheese and crackers as a guest. But I also like coconut shrimp, taquitos, eggrolls, potstickers, mini quiches, etc.
Reply:People always gobble up those mini-quiches like they have at Costco. And chipotle or bbq meatballs. Also those little pinwheel sandwiches, but they can be kind of filling.
Reply:Vol-au-vents - so formal and yummy! (You can buy the casings in bulk - so very cheap - and the fillings can be anything you want... so many options!)
Reply:How about one of those carmel apple drinks? I forget exactly how they are made...but, I believe it's sour apple pucker, butterscotch snapps and something else. It's a really tasty drink and it sounds like it would go well with your colors.

As for the hors d'oeuvres you can always go with cheese and crackers. Everyone usually likes that. Or some of those mini quiches or a vegetable platter with some dip.
