Ok have a wedding situation please help!?

I have a year before we get married. where do you go to start brousing for wedding stuff? you know like reception stuff, flowers. pictures. dresses. the whole everything!!!! and i am on a budget so i dont have a lot of money.

Ok have a wedding situation please help!?
Start now, a year isnt that long, you are going to be right on schedule. If you get ideas and really shop around you will be able to make smart finacial choices. Also, make a list of things in order of their importance to you this way you will see whats more important to spend your money on. When you see a deal, snatch it up, if your spend over the course of the year it will not be as big of a blow to you as if you spent all the money all at once. And ask around, there are alot of brides, former and intended, that can help you get good deals, and the one thing brides love is to let people in on good deals that they have gotten on something, so dont be afraid to ask.

Pick your date, and venue first, thats your most important thing, everything else is gravy and you can start shopping without people giving you the "you're doing this now?" look, you will be surprised how fast a year will go.

Good luck!
Reply:Go ahead and start looking now....and purchase a few things at a time. This will help a lot when working with a low budget.

The first thing you want to do is determine a style and theme or colors for your wedding. Start looking for your dress first...and at least narrow it down to a few different styles. Also check on line for a list of Bridal Fairs/Shows in your area...these can save you lots of money with various vendors and they also have great door prizes. Also go online and sign up for newsletters from Michaels or Hobby Lobby....this will provide you with information on sales that they are having and creative do it yourself ideas which will save you a ton of money. You may want to stock up on what you can when they are on sale...and they may have lay aways....although I'm not sure about that.

I know that Michaels is having a 40-50% off sale of their spring flowers right now...so you may want to go take a look at what they have and make some early decisions on bouquets or at least get a couple center pieces out of the way. They also have a floral designer that will design and make boquets if you are not a do it yourself person...and they are reasonable priced...the good thing about going with silk flowers is that you can purchase and make these now and put them away in the top of a closet and they will still be beautiful on your wedding day!

You may also want to go to a book store and purchse a book on wedding planning...it will have lots more ideas to help you with your wedding planning....and you'll realize quickly that a year is not that much time when it comes to wedding planning!

Congratulations and good luck to you!

Reply:First thing you have to decide on is the kind of place you are looking to hold your reception/ceremony. Once you have determined what you are looking for, you can start getting quotes from the places. Sometimes when you look for photographers, they can recommend a florist they work with and a videographer, which you then can work out packages with. OR, you can research them all separately and look for the amount they are providing for the amount they are asking.

Dresses -- you can look into a chain store like Davids, which I do not recommend (but that was because I had a bad experience -- doesn't mean you will). Check out theknot.com and search through their dresses.

If you are looking to save money with souveniers, start thinking about making them yourself. I made CD's with custom inserts (printed everything myself) and gave those out. Was a big hit.

If you do not have a lot of money, consider a destination wedding as you can get a better package when having one. I did a destination wedding and saved a TON of money. I got married in one of the hotels in las vegas (not a chapel on the strip) and with their package, my flowers, videos, photos, music, chapel time, two nights at the hotel, champagne, etc.. were all in one package - I had a reception there as well (family and friends flew out), and as long as I could guarantee 25 people, the ballroom was free and all I did was pay for meals and a bar (which is optional).

My advice to you is decide on how much you want to spend before you start looking into places or dresses so that way you have a start on what you want to do with the money you have.

Good luck.
Reply:You can start with theknot.com. Also some ways to help with money is doing many things your self you can try michaels.com and joanns.com they have many great ideas. Just get some of your friends together and have a little gathering to do them together. If you have a computer you can do your own invitations. You can also do your own food is you have family members who are willing to help. Just buy the food and stuff at SAM's club or some place like that and make the trays ahead of time and then just have family members at the reception that are refilling trays while everyone is in line. Also you can have your mom or sister or maid of honor help with your hair and make-up.

Good Luck and Best Wishes!
Reply:You would be surprised what you can find on Craigslist.com. Flowers, Dresses, Photography...
Reply:You should start with a list of the big ticket items you will need -

invitations

dresses

(are you using a caterer for the reception or doing it yourself?

flowers

Then look thru the phone book and ask friends for referrals and then start. That way you can leave deposits and make payments a little at a time and have plenty of time to pay off the big ticket items. I think there is also a web site where you can get a list for all wedding preparations you need (or where you register for gifts might give you a free list).

Good luck and God Bless your marriage.
Reply:well you could go to one of those bridal conventions or look in yellow pages or in a phone book.
Reply:If you are getting married in Vegas, let me know and I can help you out! I am a wedding consultant here and have the in's!
Reply:Why dont you have a casual beach wedding. It would be cheaper. Here are some websites for ideas, stories, picture galleries, etc.
