What else aside from travel should I be preparing for my destination wedding?

I have the flight and resort booked. I might do welcome bags. I have something planned for after the ceremony for a reception. I will pick my flowers and my hair and makeup when I get there. What else should I be preparing right now? I don't want to forget doing anything.

Hmmm....sounds like you're pretty much prepared. But one thing is maybe you could research flowers and hairstyles...maybe print out a few pictures that you really like so that once you get there, you'll have a nice starting point! Also, look for fun activities or outings and make a booklet for your guests so that they'll find something to do! You don't want to have to "entertain" during your honeymoon. (At least, that's what I did, so that my guests could have their own little vacation) Good luck! :)
Reply:Your paper work is something you shouldn't forget. Make sure that the country doesn't have any special laws about non-citizens having a marriage there. You may need to apply for a special visitor marriage visa depending on what country it is. Also find out what you need to do to apply for a marriage license in that location and if they need proof from you that you are legally allowed to get married. Check that country's government website and see what paperwork visitors need.
Reply:Make sure you know the laws of where you are getting married. You may need to take additional documents (birth certificate, etc) - talk to the resort they should be able to tell you what the local laws and customs are.
Reply:Call the airlines and ask if they can store your wedding gown on a hanger in a closet on the plane for you.
Reply:What about the Clergy? Don't forget the license! Bring things you think you might like in your hair, just in case you can't find it there or you don't have the time!

Have a great wedding!
Reply:You really do have most of it covered. If you are going to give gift baskets (which is nice to do) you can also include a printed itinerary which includes the scheduled activities. Also be sure to include some alone time for you two. It's an easy way to keep everything on track.

Also include lots of info for everyone to go off and do their own things. They will appreciate not having every moment scheduled. Check out a destination wedding checklist at

Good luck and congratulations!
