Hello everyone, I am getting married on 4-21-07 and i need help. plz let me know how to have a cheap wedding.?

I have some things already taking care of. like the flowers my aunt is doing. grandma is doing the cake. soon to be mother in law doing the food. i really need help with decorrations and brides maids dresses.and ideas of where to have the wedding and reception. please help!

Go to a dollar tree get some balloons, the streamers. they have wedding decorations there. but the dresses well i can think of going to walmart to get them they have some nice dressy dresses there. The reception maybe having it at a relatives home or a park

Reply:You can get companies to sponsor your wedding. Companies want future business, so if you let them advertise their business at your wedding then you will get their services for free or at a low cost. Like the catorer, they will have samples of different dishes, besides your meals. The concept works for everyone that does your wedding, not sure of the photographer, though I've been to ones where disposable cameras were at the table and we took pictures of eachother at the table and gave it to the bride and groom. The reception venue doesn't need to be anywhere extravagant - as long as it has a bar %26amp; somewhere for the band/DJ. Everything will get sorted - don't worry too much!
Reply:Well honestly that depends on your locality...if you are in a cold place like up here in Wisconsin...that is a little harder...but I know up here there are old country churches that don't mind hosting a small wedding party...a park (they usually have pavilions you can use for a small fee)....someone's spring flower garden...a beach (that might be a little cold due to the early spring breeze)...a back yard....the opening to a woods or wooded area...literally...the sky is the limit...and even then..it is not really..lol..same with receptions...In fact..It might be memorable to have it in someone's yard..like your grandmothers (maybe they have had a great marriage and you want that to carry into yours..etc)...whoever you ask...They usually are very honored to be able to host the event..


I don't know what you have as far as officiant's go..but usually the justice's of the peace will travel for a small fee...better than getting married in a courthouse..lol...although most officiants only charge around 150 or so for their services...


Decorations depends on how cheap you want to go...my guess is you want to go cheap with out looking cheap...(like alot of my brides...lol)...Well one of the cheapest ways i have found is using those mirrors that you see everyone place their centerpieces on (which can be found at Wal-Mart)....and usually you can find things to make your centerpieces on at the dollar store...anything from candles (make sure they are contained) to rose petals...to anything...lol...(that's a sure way to keep the budget down on the decorations)....all you need is some creativity:-)


And last but not least...the bridesmaid dresses...:-)...I am sure you are well aware of David's Bridal...lol..which bride isn't..but honestly...if you are looking for an extremely affordable way to get bridesmaid dresses..there are sometimes consignment dress shops in the area that carry exclusively formal wear (the only downer with that one is you have to sift through a lot of old stuff in order to find what you are looking for)....either that or eBay...but usually you have no idea what you are getting with eBay..lol..

If you are in a warm area, what about getting married in a park, and have ea. guest bring a dish for potluck lunch or supper? Paper plates, and plastic cutlery hot and cold drinks and cups supplied by you. Of course you would supply the cake too! Put disposable cameras on each table so that the guests take the pictures of your wedding day for you.


For your dress and that of the bridesmates, what about renting them at a costume shop? Have a "theme" wedding! Dollar stores have great decorations and wonderfull plastic flowers at very affordable prices! Get inventive. They also have plates , plastic ware and tableclothes that match! The whole thing will probably cost less than $500 for a nice affair depending on the size of your wedding party and number of guests!.
Reply:It really depends on your remaining budget and where you're having the wedding and reception. If you and your bridesmaids agree to this ask them to pay for their own dresses (I know that is the norm for some couples and taboo for others) and if they say that they cannot then you should look into renting the bridesmaids dresses or buying them on sale from David's Bridal or somewhere like that. As far as the wedding and reception go you should pick a hall that is already decorated or they will do the decorations for you. My cousin rented a Mason (I'm not sure of the social groups name) lodge for a really cheap price and it was a small hall but it was beautiful and clean. Ask around someone in your area has to have some good ideas for you to keep your wedding cheap and under budget.


PS. If the cost of the honeymoon is also a concern you can have guests donate gifts (money) to send you and your spouse on a honeymoon.

Reply:Have you considered getting married at the courthouse or home of a Justice of the Peace, and just having a reception afterward? If any of your relatives have a good-sized house or yard, they may be willing to host the party as a wedding gift to you.





Really, weddings themselves are generally the same across the board; it's the closeness of family that makes it a special occasion, so why not concentrate your efforts on the party? Just a thought.
Reply:dresses are the bride maids responsibility and a reception can be held in a big yard if its nice out congrats
Reply:For decorations and the likes, try going to a party supply warehouse. Often times they will sell items at cost or below. Places like Liquidation world may offer what you are looking for.





As for bridesmaid dresses, generally they are the responsibility of the bridesmaid to provide. If you want to be really nice, just have them all go out and choose a dress that makes them all look decent for a reasonable price.





For the reception, try a restaurant, local hall, or even a botanical garden. I know the city run botanical garden will host weddings for a donation of $400. Besides the cheap price, there is a beautiful setting for pictures!
Reply:Reception could be tough if you haven't already booked a place. I suggest seeing if a relative is a member of like a club with a banquet hall like knights of columbus, or some American legions. For the most part they are members only, but they will allow members to book for other people and they relatively cheap. Otherwise depending on your locale you could try to rent a pavillion at a nearby park and have the reception there.
Reply:I got married on 11/09/06. Me and my husband did things relatively cheap. We went to the Knight of Columbus, it costs us 500 to rent the hall for 7 hours. His grandmother did all the cooking. Go to places like Party City and WalMart or Michaels for decorations. I got my dress from david's bridal for 200.00 and my bridesmaid dresses were only 79.00. They paid for their own dresses and shoes and I brought their jewelry from Claires boutique and their necklaces from Walmart 5.00 a piece. I brought my slip for my dress off of ebay for 40.00 and I got my tiara from Michaels and my shoes from shoebuy.com for 85.00. I had two garters one was from Walmart and the other from the dollar tree. You can buy bubbles from dollar tree. They are about 8 pack for a dollar if you don't want to throw rice. I had disposable cameras at the table so that we would get some fabulous pictures. And they turned out great. We had our wedding and the reception in the same room at the Knights of Columbus.
