Interesting (but fairly inexspensive) wedding decor?

I am getting married and looking for cute, but cheap decor to go on the tables at my reception. I am tired of the played out classic of floating candles and flowers on top of mirrors. My wedding colors are claret (a dark red) black and champange. Any ideas?

Also, our theme is "Lucky in Love" because or date is 07/07/07. (Cute huh?)

What if you simply use standing candles, with "good luck charm" beads wrapped around them? You could get four-leaf clover and horseshoes to add into the beading.

Here's a site that shows what I'm talking about...I don't see these type of charms in particular, but I'm sure your local bead shop could help you find them.

Reply:How about a house of cards with dice and chips scattered around the base of it?

You can make it with old decks of cards and a hot glue gun. Plus you won't feel guilty when you have no use for them after the wedding. It's cheap and effective. Plus it's only for one day. You'll spend 2 hours tops making the houses of cards, and it will cost you a max of $10.

Don't get fish because they die very quickly. My fiance used gold fish for his grandparents' 40th anniversary, and half the fish died before the day was up.

(I love how I received a thumbs-down for giving the most original idea on this post)
Reply:Topiary trees (easily made)

Link has a variety of styles along with instructions for them...

Reply:You could get small fish bowls and get one fish per table, and during the whole wedding, they will be swimming around. They are cheap, and you can get some nice colored fish at Wal-Mart. At the end of the wedding you can have some kind of fun way to give them away at each table.

Another fun way is to buy some disposible cameras and put them at each table..you can have a sign in front of them saying: Please help us share in todays memories!
Reply:Sounds wonderful. Do a search in ebay and see what it finds. You can put rose pedals on the tables in a circle and in the middle put a nice candelabra or nice flower arragement.
Reply:Check out prom/party decorating sites. It sounds weird but I've gotten a lot of decor from those sites.
Reply:Go with glass vases, or bowls with beta fish in dark red. They are a beautiful fish and easy to find in dark red. You could also do vases with flowers in your colors, with the beta fish in with them. Put votive candles around it and dark red flower pedals. Look on the internet for bulk votives, and bulk flower petals. They are usually not too expensive. You've picked gorgeous colors. Congrats and good luck.
Reply:How about beautiful wreath centerpieces? They could be of the same flowers you use in your wedding bouquet - you could have a candle in the middle. It would be simple, elegant, and classic.
Reply:You could do any kind of theme with playing cards for your lucky theme, esp. since they seem to match your colors. Anything with the King and Queen of hearts would be fun. Browse for ideas on the internet... I can't think of anything off the top of my head but that might be cute.
Reply:lucky in love-- cupids %26amp; hearts;

also like the idea of the house of cards - that could include some dice

you could have a roulette wheel set to spin the numbers then have little cards on the tables with the numbers on them %26amp; *romantic* quotations on the cards or quips about your lives together- spin the wheel then whoever has the number has to read out the quote

GOOD LUCK
Reply:Look on plumparty.com - they have great stuff.

Why not have your wedding favors be the table decoration too? Have you considered getting personalized mini bottles of wine or champagne (personalcreations.com) - you could decorate them with personalized red and black ribbon. Place them in a ring in the center of the table. Maybe add some christmas decorations - like red frosted fake berries or something like that - around the bottles.
Reply:We carry some really nice sheer heart organza bags and conversation hearts that say things like, " Joy, Love, Our Day, etc." that you can put inside the bags. You can look at our web site at www.onceuponatimeabq.com

the bags are item #6-2009

and the candy is #12-1025

They aren't expensive, and they would be a fun idea.

Good Luck!
