Wedding on lake michigan?

I am thinking about getting married on the beach of Lake Michigan. Either in Chicago, IL; Michigan City, IN; Holland, MI; or Grand Haven, MI... Does anyone know any good reception sites that would be close? I want a sunset wedding and an evening reception in May... but there isn't a date set yet, I just want lilacs so it would have to be around Mother's day for the flowers to be in bloom. I was thinking it would be really cold still on the beach and windy in May. Has anyone had experience with weddings on Lake Michigan in any of these areas? I would like to know what kind of rules there are for the ceremony. The reception would be at a different location near the beach, but inside because it will definitely be too cold to be outside at night in May. Thanks!

One piece of advice if you are having an outdoor wedding...watch the veil. In a windy location, you will be eating it. Either make sure it has weighters in it or else do not wear one.
Reply:For a sunset wedding go for the east shore of the lake so that you can have the sunset in the background of the pictues across the lake
Reply:It will be difficult to have a wedding on the beach in May off of Lake Michigan, most of the time we still have a trace of snow and it is too cold to even open parks. If you come North, it will be worse but more lovely. A few weddings have been held on Mackinac Island in May, but it still may be cold there. There is no guarantee. There are many settings on the island including a very old church used often for weddings, and of course, you have a great selection of places to have a reception on the island. The island people will help you plan and get the things necessary to make a wedding lovely, no matter how cold.
