Does anyone know if this type of wedding is possible?

I have been dreaming of my wedding for years, but now thats its happening I want something tottally different. I want to have my wedding AT a classy reception hall, the wedding in one room and the reception in the other. I'd like to have the wedding room, be decorated with lots and lots of candles but then when I walk down the aisle I would like the lights to turn off and have my wedding in candle light. then the wedding party leave and go take pictures, while the reception starts in the other room. Then we arrive awhile later. BUT I cant find the location I need. I live in Lexington Kentucky, but am willing to venture into southern Ohio. I absolutly HATE flowers, so there wont be any. ALSO, I want a judge to do it, I dont want religion in the ceremony. Will a judge come to a reception hall to so the wedding? Any opinions or help would be greatly appreciated! ALSO the reception hall would have to have somewhere for us to get ready.

Does anyone know if this type of wedding is possible?
This sounds like how I had my wedding. We had it at a hotel. They set up one room for the ceremony. When we went to do the pictures, they had another room set up for the guest with a bar and hot and cold appetizers. When the photos were complete, they had all of the guest go into the reception area.

We also had blocks of rooms set aside for our guest if they decided to party a little to hard.

Have you looked into nice hotels? This is were we had mine http://www.starwoodhotels.com/westin/pro...

We got a free wedding planner from the hotel. She was great, I just told her my vision and she made it happen.
Reply:I would hire a wedding planner and have them set this plan in motion. It can all be done. although instead of all the lights going off i would have them dimmed or have a couple on away from you so that you can get pictures.
Reply:There are people that have gotten married naked or scuba diving. Of course it is possible it's not that rare what you want that you won't find anyone to do it. And yes my sister was married by a judge and he went to the reception. Good Luck.
Reply:Maybe you just need to broaden your search. Does the ceremony have to be indoor in a room?

I wonder if there are any venues that have reception rooms and outdoor patio/garden area for the ceremonies. Then, you could have the wedding at night and use candles outdoors... that would be gorgeous. Maybe more gorgeous than candlelight in an enclosed room!

Just a thought. Keep looking, and try to think how you can achieve your vision in different spaces. Reception halls and hotels are not the only places to have a beautiful wedding.

Good luck!
Reply:Absolutely possible.

Don't limit yourself to Reception Halls. Museums, renovated lofts in a downtown area, railroad stations. Many different historical homes host Weddings as well. Not to mention Bed and Breakfasts, ranches, even restaraunts! Start looking outside of the box and you will find something!!

Yes a Judge will go to your location. Give a few a call and find out the logistics.

Best Wishes.

ADDED:

I highly suggest hiring an Event Coordinator. They will most likely be able to give you a list of locations that can fit your exact needs.(Which could save you a big headache) They typically offer consultations for free as well as several packages, including a "Day-Of" package. You get to plan all the details and logistics, then the actual day of the wedding the Planner will come in and handle the timing issues (like the dimming of the lights you want) as well as arrival of the vendors (florist, photographer, catering, cake) and solve any problems that arrise so you get to be the BRIDE!! If anything, a coordinator will only enhance all the wonderful ideas you have!
Reply:You can definitely have it at a reception hall, or in just about any classy place you can imagine (as a couple other people have said). As far as having a judge come, if you can't get them to come to you for some reason, you can be officially married in a courthouse, and have anyone you like perform the ceremony. My sister had to do this when the priest got sick at the last minute. My dad (who performed it) forgot some of the words, God love him. =O

The reception hall should definitely have a dressing room or large bathroom at least for you to get ready in. They usually do. Be sure to inquire about it when you're initially checking it out, asking how big the areas are and everything. They might say, "Oh yeah, we have a great place for you to get ready," and it's really a closet of a bathroom. So of course you want to visit the site and see for yourself if at possible before you decide.

This website should help with finding a good place to do it, as well as other services. http://www.theweddingdirectory.us/usa/me... Oh, another idea is a super-nice hotel. Hotel weddings are common. Good luck with everything, and congratulations!
Reply:Yes this wedding is very possible and very nice...If you will email me with the specifics and places that you have in mind i can help you with this...But in general most hotels will do this and if you schedule it with a JP then they will do it for a minimal charge. And lots of places have dimmers to where they can dim the lights to whatever time you want...And with the reception. The officiant can announce that the wedding party is going to remain and take pictures but that everyone else is dismissed to the reception!!!! I hope that this helps and if you can't email me then check out myspace.com/weddingsandmore.com and email me there.
Reply:I know this location doesn't work as it's not near you, but we're getting married this fall and are having the same kind of wedding as what you describe. We are having at the nearby university (neither of us attended this school) It has an old english building with wooden high cathedral like ceilings. The wedding is upstairs, the dinner is downstairs, while they set up the upstairs for the reception. We are having a minister friend do the wedding but he has aggreed to do a non denominational service. It has its own english style pub for the bar which is it's own room. You should check out near by schools for old buildings, most universities especially old ones have such a hall, and inexpensive.
