India theme wedding?

I want to do an India themed wedding; with elephants, sitars, bright %26amp; bold fabrics, orange, gold.. I LOVE India's use of bright colors!

Does anyone have any ideas for me? Decor, color, music, flowers, anything!

My wedding ceremony is taking place outdoors in a courtyard of a spanish style club, and the reception will be indoors in a ballroom.

Thank you! No negative comments please!

India theme wedding?
GORGEOUS idea.

Traditional colours for the bride - red with gold embroidery, henna painted hands and feet.

Have a reception meal that you can eat Indian style - help yourself from a variety of dishes and eat with your right hand!

Marigolds/marigold wreaths for your guests (lei style!) Lots of fairy lights if you've got trees in the courtyard.

Go for some funky Bollywood tracks and see if you can find an Indian dance class to learn a few moves to wow your guests!

If you really want to go for an Indian feel, have the groom arrive at the venue on a decorated white horse...

Best of luck and have a fantastic day.
Reply:Are you or your partner Indian? If not, go to Indianweddingsite.com for some basic ideas. There is some great Indian music (traditional and dance) being sold at music stores.

The great thing is you can really go over the top in colours, bling bling etc. and it will look great.

Good luck
Reply:if you love bright colors you would love Moroccan Colors... I like the henna idea...
Reply:Besides what ginnikins have told, www.diwansaheb.com take a look here for a ethnic wedding suit "sherwani" %26amp; a "safa" for yourself. For the bride, I'd suggest "lehenga"; all with golden (yellow gold) embroidary.

Decor is nothing much special... I mean nothing much different from western wedding.. same flowers, %26amp; stuff.

There should be carpet on the ground all around. Arrange Indian food items...

Music shall be "bhangra" which will make guests's legs shake automatically.

Watch some Indian wedding movies to get some more visual hints about it. Try to find movie named "vivaah", "hum aapke hain kaun".. these would work.

Reply:It will be GREAT! We had an Indian themed wedding because my husband is Indian. We were lucky enough to be able to do tons of shopping in India but these days you can get everything in the US. What you need to do is take a trip to one of the great Indian neighborhoods in a larger city like - NY, or the NJ area or Chicago. You will get EVERYTHING you want. Some things that we did - all the clothes were Indian style. We got flower garlands from a NJ shop. We had those silver throne chairs to sit on at the reception and lots of Indian wall hangings hung up. We had a sitar player and singer at the reception. We had it catered by an Indian restaurant and the cake was a mango flavored cake. You can use incense to give the place an more Indian smell. We had small gifts for the guests that we picked up in Indian stores (small jewlery boxes).

People are still talking about our wedding as it was so unique. Have fun with it and congrats!
