Halloween Wedding?

I am planning my wedding for 10/31/09. I'd like to tie Halloween into the wedding. I am going to have the ceremony and the reception in the same location which probably will be a fire hall. We're getting married early in the day maybe around noon and will probably have like luncheon trays. I'm thinking of using chocolate dresses for my girls and terra cotta flowers. We are on a very tight budget. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks

Halloween Wedding?
Go to craft stores now. Right now, if they have anything that has to do with autumn and Halloween they would be discounted. You can probably find autumn-style silk leaves and flowers that can be made into a bouquet.
Reply:I'd go for red and orange colored dresses, but hey, its your wedding, do what you want with it.

Have pumpkins on each of the tables at the receptions. :) And maybe some pumpkin bread and candy, just for fun.
Reply:I guess it depends on just how Halloweeny you want to get.

I know one bride who is having her cake made in the shape of a coffin.

You could have a Halloween party %26amp; ask everyone to dress up.

For centerpieces you could take those black cauldrons %26amp; float orange candles in them, or use pumpkins %26amp; gourds, a few autumn leaves as your focal point.

Pumpkin pie would be good to serve as would donuts %26amp; cider.

And by all means, the DJ just has to play Monster Mash.

Have fun planning!
Reply:Think pumkins not jack-o-laterns and your wedding will be lovely.
Reply:We have the same wedding date!! CONGRATS!

We're getting the 70oz pumpkin jars for centerpieces, from here: http://www.yessupplyco.com/products/jars...

Since our venue doesn't allow candles without a hefty damage deposit, we're going to put halloween candy in them (like bite-sized snickers in the fall wrappers).

Our favors are going to be Halloween-style ceramic mini loaf pans. Like these but with Halloween symbols on the outside (ghosts, candy corn, pumpkins etc) - - I got a GREAT deal on them @ the craft store's after-Halloween sale:

And we're going to put candy in them as well as a recipe for pumpkin bread, wrap 'em up and we're done.

OH, and if you like Rocky Horror and are having music - - do the Time Warp instead of the Chicken Dance!!!!

EDIT: I totally forgot about the cake! I'm going to have a normal tiered cake but I want spiders and spiderwebs iced onto the cake. inspired by cake "Spider 12" from this site: http://www.coolest-birthday-cakes.com/ca...
Reply:I am also planning my wedding on that day and am making it Halloween themed. I tossed around the idea of pumpkins, cornstalks, gourds, etc; all the normal Halloween/Harvest type decorations. But then decided to go more elegant. The reception will be more like a Haunted Mansion. Candlabras will be the main lighting. Black tables clothes with dark red velvet table runners. Some Xmas lights (white, but you can get orange or purple at Halloween) will be across the ceiling. And of course spider webs and some bats hanging around the room. We are also encouraging all guests to wear costumes since we want the reception to have a Halloween party feel to it.

We too are having it at a similar location due to budget. My best suggestion is to do a lot of shopping during the Halloween season, and just after since you can get clearance decorations then! Also, family and friends are great sources for borrowing decorations. My family has several Halloween fanatics, so I'll have a great selection of things to put around the room.

Good luck! I'll be keeping an eye to see what suggestions you're given. I too can still use a lot of ideas.
Reply:I think a fall setting will be nice. the colors are wonderful!
Reply:Someone I work with got married around Halloween and did the flower arrangements themselves. Instead of a vase they used pumpkins to hold the flowers. It might also be a cute idea to give everyone masquerade masks at the reception.
Reply:I like the idea more of a fall wedding with pumpkins and autumn colors a lot more than a halloween wedding! But every wedding is different and that's what makes it special!
Reply:pumpkins
Reply:if you really want a halloween theme use jack o latterns for center pieces. if you don't want to be too halloween use plain pumpkins. have hot apple cider for guests to drink and candy apples for favors!

Have a good time! I love the theme
Reply:OK I had a Halloween wedding a few years ago. I used pumpkins for centerpieces (saved me alot of money on flowers) they sell fake leaves at claft stores you can scatter them on the tables. Also I forgot my cake topper so we used baby pumpkins as the cake topper. I also glued the place cards to baby pumkins(the realy little ones)
Reply:Have a costume reception. It may sound corny, but I've seen it done and it was kind of cool.
Reply:wow that's different. i like it!!!! :D
Reply:Yes pumpkins with candles for the centrepieces. Sweets for the favours.
Reply:You can get lots of nice centre pieces done up with pumpkins and fall leaves and squash. You can have pumpkins carved with your initials or table numbers.

Each guest could have an old fashion candy apple as a favour. and you could get mini squash to use as place card holders.

If you are having children at your wedding allow them to come dressed up. make up little loot bags for each of them with candy and goodies. You can get halloween themed activity books to keep little ones busy during the reception.

You can also do up loot bags for your wedding party. include their little thank you gifts and maybe some of their favourite treats.
Reply:Congratulations on your wedding, I hope you can use these wonderful ideas...
