Are these amounts enough for flowers, etc?

I'm making my budget. My wedding is at a hall in South Jersey. Will these amounts be enough for a decent wedding with the following?:

centerpieces for rectangulars $400

decorations $400

cake for 150 ppl $400

flowers $400 for reception , ceremony room, and bouquets, boutineers, but not centerpieces.

Are these amounts enough for flowers, etc?
Chill out bridezilla! This isn't a question we can just come out and answer, all prices are different! Go sit down with a florist and ask them, they can give you an idea.

I budgeted $1,000 after sitting with my florist.

Wow, with that attitude I can't even believe I tried answering this question. Yikes!
Reply:The flowers amount may not be enough. We spent 800 on my big bouquet, four smaller bouquets for attendants, five boutonnieres, three corsages and three centerpieces. My bouquet was close to 100 - was a mixed handtied European bouquet, and the attendants had smaller versions which were about 60, I think.
Reply:I think youre better off finding out the real prices from the florist and cake people than asking us. Sorry, its just really hard to say.

EDIT: The hostility.... Ok, heres an answer: Yes thats enough money for your reception. Now you got an answer. Happy now?
Reply:The flower budget seems ok but you should maybe up it a couple of hundred dollars. The cake budget is way to low I think. I just recently got married and we had 175 people at our wedding. I had a very nice but simple cake and I tried out several vendors. I paid 1600.00 for a cake to feed 175 people. Cakes are very expensive.
Reply:I think that's accurate. There are a lot of factors such as how many rectangulars and how big of a space you are decorating but you are on track with my budget for a 130 person wedding.

Good luck and Congrats!
Reply:Hi there,

You could probably save a little on centrepieces by DIY and being creative - possibly the same with decorations. I would think that $400 for a cake to feed 150 people is probably a little low - perhaps look at DIY options there as well - create a cake with a difference by having cupcakes instead of a large wedding cake or instead of a cake at all, hire a chocolate fountain. Again the flowers seem a little low and I would be allowing a bit more for those as well. Perhaps you could ask at your local catering college if they have students wanting to create a cake for assessment etc and that might reduce the cost of the cake for you. Hope that helps in some way.
Reply:The flowers sound about right but check with your florist. Actually you might want to talk to 3 florist and get a better idea of price. The cake seems kind of high. Maybe $250. I live in Tennessee and my baker told me that my cake was going to be $150 and it was enough for 100ppl. Don't forget to include food in your budget. Are you going to serve heavy hoeurderes or a actual meal? I'm getting married 8-8-08 and I'm doing my own flowers because I can get 200 roses for $200 from South America! Florist totally rip you off!
Reply:why not go out and price everything before you spend any money. Only you can decide how to allot the money

Example, I had one rose in a small vase at the center of each table and a ribbon tied around the vase. Set it on a paper doily. cost $5.00 per table. if 20 table that is $100.00

many kinds of wedding cakes a fancy one to serve only the bridal party and cupcakes for the other guest can be had for $50.00 plus $1.00 per guest. ( under 200 total)
Reply:It really depends on what type of flowers you are doing...and without a number for guest list, a pic of the hall to see how big it is, when are you having it, etc. there is no way to tell you an accurate budget. For instance, flower prices skyrocket the entire month of Feb. becuase everybody and their mom want's to get married then and are giving flowers to their girlfriends.

If you are getting a florist your flower budget isn't going to be close to what they will charge...even for dasies and especially in a big city like Jersey. If you are DIYing with silks you might be close to target.

The cake, if you are willing to get one from a place like Sam's or Costco you are over pricing it. I prefer their cakes over bakery cakes anway because they are made fresh that day (bakeries make them up to a week in advance) and they don't have that nasty fondant crap on them.
Reply:Stop being so rude.............You want something for nothing.......go hire a wedding planner if you and your calculator cannot come to terms. But, do not HOLLER at the p/s'ers that answer you question in whatever manner they care to.......that's my opinion. This just happens to be an OPEN FORUM!
Reply:I say you need to start calling places and getting quotes. Try doing some things yourself. I am sure you can knock off some $$ by doing your own centerpieces. Make a list. Call places and get prices, just don't make a budget for $400 on everything.
Reply:you can make these amounts work for the flowers use silks they are cheaper and you can order earlier and leave room for changes if needed. How many tables will you have? what abouit colors? Best Wishes.
Reply:1. Centerpieces for rectangulars

It depends on how many rectangulars you have. Is this for guest tables? If yes, then centerpieces run anywhere from $35 -100 each depending on what you pick out. Divide it up by how many tables you are talking about.

2. Not sure what you mean by decorations so that is hard to say.

3. Cake

is this for flowers for the cake or the cake itself? Some florist include flowers for cake if you don't want too many. Ask your florist about this. If you mean $400 for a cake that feeds 150 ppl then that should be enough if it is not too elaborate.

4. $400 for reception, ceremony room, bouquets, corsages, bouts.

I doubt this is enough. Bridal bouquets usually run $100-200 each. B'maid bouquets run $35-60 each. Bouts. run $8-12 each. Corsages run $12-22 each. It will depend on how many of each thing you need, though, so just multiply that out. Ceremony room flowers-if that means any kind of large arrangement, those run $150-300 each.

Hope this helps!
