Orange/Purple Wedding Idea Help?

In March I am getting married. Our wedding colors are Tangarine (Orange) and Grape (Purple).

I can't seem to find any sites with reception or flower ideas in those colors.

We are having a Hawaiian theamed reception but I am still looking for an untacky way of decoration our reception place.

Thanks ahead of time!

Orange/Purple Wedding Idea Help?
Even though your color choice and theme is a bit wild, I think you can pull it off by toning it down slightly.

Can I suggest looking into the beautiful flower called the Strelitzia or better known as the 'Bird of Paradise'. It comes in a beautiful orange shade with faint hints of purple. This is a very elegant and modern flower which would look beautiful lying on its side in a low rectangular vase with white pebbles on a white table cloth.

It would also make for a very special bridal bouquet as it is long and slender and would look great if you carried just two or three wrapped in white ribbon.

Also, another way to get around the color scheme is using orange and purple tea-light candles which can be used to not only set the mood but help the scheme blend well.

Even though these are beautiful colors, use them sparingly and cleverly because they are very vivid, combine them with whites and greens to keep the focus on you and not the decor and I am sure your wedding will be beautiful.
Reply:I don't think there is an untacky way to display those colors. They seem like College football team colors or something.
Reply:You may want to consider Bird of Paradise as one of your main flowers. They are tropical and contain both orange and purple. they can be somewhat costly but at least an idea. If you have a friend or family that will offer you there yard/ property for the night, you can have a luau theme party. I would suggest you try Oriental Trading Company for Hawaiian theme party ideas and you might want to try bridal flowers bliss an interactive wedding flower chart. See web site below.. Good luck!!!
Reply:I love those two colours together, if it's done right.

I would have the purple as the main colour, with orange accents.
Reply:Try going with a peach and lavender. I know that any fabric store has purple/orange iridescent fabric. As for flowers, try pairing orange Feathered Celosias with any pretty purple flowers (like hibiscus). Also you can get Gerbera Daisies in any color. And try using the sky at dusk as inspiration.

also at theknot.com they have lots of pics or real weddings with orange and purple. I couldn't find any with those two colors together ( I didn't look through all of them though) but you can at least get ideas from the pics of each and that might help you plan how to combine the two colors. Hope that helps.

And don't listen to the ppl who called your wedding tacky. I've seen plenty of pretty pics of color combos that I thought were unusual and never would have though of combining. Brown and blue is a trend now, and I never would have though of trying that.
Reply:Orange %26amp; Purple are really pretty together. Here are a few links below to view.

Reply:orange, purple, hawaiian theme ..not tacky hmmmmm is that possible?
Reply:Possibly play up the purple color and just use the orange as an accent color, example tiger lillies. Don't try to 50/50 these colors. Think about 25 years from now when you are looking at wedding photos. Most people shudder and think..."What the hell was I thinking?!?!"
Reply:My fiance, and I are doing a Hawaiian style wedding as well. I goggled alot of Hawaiian websites, and got plenty of ideas from there. I'm sure you will find something that will match those colors; the Hawaiian sites I have visited have alot of those colors in different items.
Reply:How about lilies- purple ones and tiger (orange) lilies. Being the same type of flower they may look more elegant together than two different types.

Hope that helps a little!
Reply:i think that is a good idea
Reply:if it hawaiian you should have a pink dress
Reply:Talk about clashing. That's like Electric Blue and Orange.

Rather than go with Purple, try orchid. It's a lighter shade of purple which won't clash with your tangerine orange. But even that color should be softened a lot.

For the bridesmaids, a light orchid shawl over the orange gown would look stunning.
Reply:Go Lakers!!

Ok, I happened to find a purple and orange wedding online. I don't really like it, but the flowers are pretty so maybe this will give you some ideas.

Reply:purple and orange will be hard colors to find that just dont go together in my book, i went to a wedding that was tangerine and red and it looked great and then my wedding was purple . and white, silver. I think you should try to match one of those colors with a different combination.
Reply:Wow those colors are really bright. Why don't you get two table cloths the larger one being purple. Then whatever flowers you use will complent the tables. With a good balance on the tables you can use what ever color flowers you want just keep the table cloths in solid colors. Don't listen to all these peoples crap go with your first instinct. I didn't get the bouquet I wanted on my wedding and it still makes me sad.
Reply:Check out this video which shows ways to incorporate

orange and purple into an island themed wedding. They also use turquoise and blue and it's absolutely gorgeous!

Reply:Holy cow! I thought I was the only one. My wedding colors were orange/purple/ and green. (Fiesta theme).

We had vases with green (you could do the purple) ribbons tied around them. The flowers were different colors with lots of greenery around them.

You could use white chair covers and use tiebacks in alternating colors.

also

Orange invitations are beautiful

orange and purple silk flowers for the bridesmaids bouquets and hairpieces.

Use white as your main color and add silk flowers for decorations .

good luck!
Reply:why don't u just go with white or red
Reply:Lilies...

Have the reception outside at a local park. Have a roasted pig, lots of tropical fruit, and leis. For you and your girls, put flowers in your hair/behind your ears.
