HI...me again... another question about our medieval reception. We will be holding our wedding and reception at this nice open area that has beautiful flower gardens. My brother is a carpenter and is making the tables for the receptions. There are only approx. 40 guests. Should we go with the plank style tables with benches on either side which would seat 10/table? or should we try for some sort of "round table" affect using the round picnic tables? (FYI he sells them on the side so its not like they will be going to waste afterwards).
Wedding tables?
I agree with the first answerer. Plus, it's hard to get up from a long bench seat where others are seated (if someone has to go to the bathroom or something) - you have to try to step over the bench behind you, and that's going to be especially hard on any ladies wearing dresses.
Reply:Personally, when I'm a guest at a wedding, I prefer the round tables because then everyone at the table can be involved in the conversation and no one is leaning over anyone saying "What did they say?"...
Reply:In keeping with the time period, In midevil times guests were more likely to sit at the long tables. You can put individual seats at the long tables and it would be more authentic.
Reply:The individual wooden chairs will be easier for your guests of all ages and sizes. If you haven't been check out the restaurant Medieval Times - its a hoot! I love their mugs and pitchers and plates- very sturdy and medieval
Reply:Hi. I agree with the round tables....better for conversations. And, yes, good idea to rent the folding wooden chairs. It all sounds very different and unique!
Keep us updated.
Reply:lee ann and galaxie girl have given you the perfect reasons for round tables and chairs instead of benches.
we always use round tables for precisely the reason that conversation is much easier.
not only that but with a round table then your smaller version wedding cakes will be perfect centerpieces and look absolutely spectacular! [see, i'm already assuming you are going with the smaller version wedding cakes on each of your tables - lol]
anyway round tables!
