Wedding Flowers!!?

I am getting married in May in a pavilion by the ocean. I have no ideas as to what types of flowers that I should be looking into to both decorate the pavilion and the reception hall afterwards. The hall is also by the ocean. My maid of honor's dress is a blue color, but the wedding has no theme. Any suggestions would be great. I am 21 --- my mother and mother-in-law-to-be are no help at all! Thanks in advance!

Wedding Flowers!!?
Lillies, sweet peas, orchids, jasmine %26amp; roses. the smell will be heavenly! (and they look fantastic together. I had all of these in my bouquet.)
Reply:I suggest visiting weddinglenox.com and post your request. Their matching system http://www.weddinglenox.com/f-membersign... will match you up with local vendors with pricing you specified. I tried it and have good result as I only recieved response from vendors according to my request.

One problem I had with my wedding is that it is hard to locate vendors in most website as most likely they group by states and there are too many of them that's too far from me and I have to look at each site to figure out.

The sites I provide above have a easy to use layout to show you pictures, pricing and location in one page plus, you can send out your inquiry for matching vendor to contact you. That save me lots of time to locate the best vendors with the right price.
Reply:Get some orchards or some white flowers.
Reply:Boo on flowers! Go with sea shells! I did glass fish bowls with sea shells and live beta fish as centerpieces and it was a HUGE it. We floated some purple orchids on top but the fish were such a fun thing for my guests and many of them are now pets in their homes! We had roses scattered around the cake table but nothing too fancy or expensive. We also used drink umbrellas as decorations for the guests' glasses. They're VERY cheap at any party supply store.

Warning: Male beta fish, although very beautiful, will kill eachother so if you want more than one fish in a bowl, get the girls. They're smaller, cheaper and if you have kids coming to the wedding, they'll love it.
Reply:Go Simple... the ocean is so beautiful... and fancy flowers like roses seem out of place...

Look for some flowers that have blue in them and mix with creme/white flowers...

Go ask a florist to look at some books... or pictures...

Here is a list of flowers that have blue in them -

Anemone

Cornflower

Delphinium

Eryngium-blue thistle

Eustoma-Lisianthus

Hyacinth

Hydrangea

Iris

Misty Limonium

Monkshood

Muscari

Scabiosa

Trachelium

Veronica

You could also do a something that is in a complementary color -

The florists can help. Talk to more than one!

You can probably look at pictures on websites for ideas too... I took pictures for ideas to a florist when I got married and I loved my flowers!

Good luck!
Reply:Calla Lillies are elegant and beautiful. Consider those. COme in all colors.
Reply:orchids, lily's, a soft flower that is flowy if that makes sense. Try to find pics on the internet.
Reply:Check website theknot.com for ideas %26amp; remember it is much cheaper if you use a flower in season. That is in season for where they are shipping from - not locally.

My daughter had her bridesmaids carry 18 muti-colored roses %26amp; she carry 2 dozen white tulips with white streaming ribbons. It was simple %26amp; beautiful - little distraction from her %26amp; her gown.

Lillies are lovely %26amp; hydrangaes are large, come in several colors %26amp; easy to decorate with. Good luck!
Reply:Hydrangeas would look stunning.

Also try for some butterfly bush (aka buddleja or buddleia) if you can, though it might be out of season. It smells magnificent and comes in a whole rage of colors.

Reply:As a floral designer, I would recommend setting up a consultation with a few local florists. Almost always, florists will do this for free. All you have to know beforehand is what kind of theme/colors you want to go with and about how much you want to spend. A good florist will sit down with you and get all the information they need, and then come up with several styles of designs based on what you tell them. And many times, they will have most of the flowers on hand to give you an idea how the finished product will look. A few days after the consult, they will send you a quote in the mail. Then you can choose which florist you prefer. Also, you might want to bring with you clips or pictures of arrangements you like. This will help the designers get a sense of what styles you like.
Reply:I love calla lillies. They are so beautiful and classy looking, especially in a bouquet.

I used www.theknot.com for almost all of my planning. I even created a webpage for my family and friends to keep up to date on the planning.

Congratulations!
