How much do you think an average wedding should cost?

Just the reception, flowers, food, bar, favors, decorations, etc.





I'm not including the dresses, tuxes, or ceremony site. Just the stuff that is traditionally paid for by the parents.

It should probably be no more than a couple of thousand. Anything more is just showing off unless you have hundreds of guests.
Reply:You have neglected a few necessary items, such as the Photographer, the videographer, the band, the wait staff, ushers and valets. These are normally paid for by the Bridal parents. The wedding site is traditionally covered by her parents as well, so is, at least, the one dress - the Bridal Gown. It is not out of the ordinary for the parents to purchase or to help with the purchase of the bride's maids gowns...I understand in some smaller weddings, the bride's maids actually cover this cost themselves, though. Tuxedos, being primarily a rental item, not unlike many of the decorations, are not generally covered in the cost of the wedding, and are born out by the groomsmen.





Assuming that you are both of the average family (wont need security to prevent the Paparazzi ) I wouldn't go over $100,000 - 125 tops.
