A couple of wedding questions (cake and flowers)?

First our wedding date is Feb 21, 2009.

Our colors are "clover" green and basic yellow. What flowers would go good with those colors?

Second..we're going to Disneyland for our honeymoon and pretty much everyone knows would it be weird to incorporate that into our wedding such as having our wedding cake be a replica of Sleeping Beautys castle? Or should we go with a basic wedding cake since our reception is not themed.

I know it's our day and we can do whatever we want ultimately, but I just want to know what others think. THANK YOU

A couple of wedding questions (cake and flowers)?
I think incorporating the disney theme into your reception and cake would be really cute.

They actually sell these really cute cinderella wedding favors...like these glass slippers:

And a cute cake topper...

For some other good ideas you can try this store. They have lots of cute stuff that could go with that theme...and it can look very elegant...

As for the flowers, I will tell you something I learned when I got married on February 16th...for some reason the prices of flowers triple 2 weeks before and after Valentines Day...especially if you are going to a wholesale florist who needs to order the flowers way in advanced. So, I would definitely advise staying away from the roses (unless it is for your bouquet...I had to have roses in my bouquet, but it cost me a fortune!!)

As for the rest of the flowers, I stuck with the gerbera daisies. They were very affordable and beautiful.

You could also go with some nice tulips and green hydrangeas. Like these...

The colors are beautiful...I would suggest you add a pink color to your color scheme. The only reason that I say this is because around that time of the year you will be able to get some really great decorations and supplies left over and on sale from Valentine's day. I saved a lot of money doing it that way...but, it truly is your day.

I hope that this helps! Good luck and congratulations! :)
Reply:I think that would be cool to incorp the castle into the recpetion.

As for the flowers I would check with your local florist to see whats in season at the time of year. Seasonal flowers are cheaper then shipping them in.

My neice is getting married next month, she found a vendor at a craft show that makes wooden carved flowers and will die them to match her flowers. They are beautiful and alot cheaper then real ones, and will last forever.
Reply:i think the sleeping beauty wedding cake would be great. If it is too expensive and you still wan to incorp. that in the cake they have plenty of disney cake toppers online.

Flowers- In the winter with yellow and green is tough. Roses and lillies are nice and they come in all colors. For the green color you could try an ivy style plant and mix it up.
Reply:I'd go with a mix of more colored flowers to liven things up a bit. The green will come in as the greenery, I wouldn't use green flowers.

If the dresses are clover, this bouquet would be pretty -

As for the cake, I'd keep it just traditional, and pretty.

as far as flowers go:

use white lilies with alot of greenery.

White and yellow roses w/ greenery
Reply:IF YOUR COLOR IS CLOVER GREEN, WHY NOT INCORPORATE CLOVERS INTO THE SCHEME OF THINGS....THEY ARE KNOWN TO BRING GOOD LUCK...I THINK YELLOW DAFFODIALS WOULD BE LOVELY WITH THE CLOVERS.......OR EVEN YET, CLOVERS ARE KNOWN TO BE IRISH, SO WHAT IS AN IRISH YELLOW FLOWER??? JUST SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT...YOU ARE RIGHT, THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IT IS YOUR WEDDING AND RECEPTION....DO YOU WANT A SLEEPING BEAUTY WEDDING CAKE OR JUST A TRADITIONAL ONE?? THE THEMED CAKE MIGHT BE NICE, BUT ANY CAKE THAT YOU HAVE PICKED OUT WILL BE WONDERFUL. HOPE THIS HAS HELPED YOU SOME....GOOD LUCK ON THE PLANNING AND HAVE A DAY TO REMEMBER!!!
Reply:The good thing about having green in your colourscheme, is that you can have yellow and cream flowers, and use the foliage to incorporate the green. A friend of mine used sunflowers in her bouquet, and they were really beautiful.

I think simple cakes are nicer, but that's my opinion. Our colours are red and cream, and we're having a simple iced cake with rose petals sprinkled on top. Perhaps you could do something similar but using yellows?
Reply:Myabe use soft peaches, yellows, and whites for flowers. You can also have lots of greenery in the arrangements.

As for the cake, I would maybe just make it easy on yourselves and go with a basic wedding cake. If you did go the Disney route though, you could incorporate many magical themes into the reception. Glass slipper containers for flowers, crowns for you and the attendants, lots of fairy dust etc. Would be fun! Can I come? ;)
Reply:i think you need to do what you want to do and flowers i would use a white and maybe a yellow mixed with different colors of green
Reply:If you want a castle cake, go for it. I woudn't want one, but I think it would be cool to look at if I were at someone's wedding.

There are green zinnias, green hydrangeas, yellow snapdragons, tulips, sunflowers, oh so many flowers to choose from. What types of flowers do you like?

Good luck.
Reply:The sleeping beauty castle cake sounds like a cute idea. I actually attended a wedding of a couple that both worked for Disney and their cake was also a castle. Another thing they did was that they had "hidden mickeys" throughout the reception room, however it was not obvious ones so it became a fun game for the wedding guests to try to find them. I thought it was nice that they incorporated their personalities into their wedding.
Reply:I think a sleeping beauty wedding cake would be really memorable.

You might try yellow roses, or if you want silk flowers so as to be able to keep them, you would have a much wider choice.

I did that, and made a smaller bouquet of the same flowers to throw later on.
Reply:Sure do the cake like you described. It is a part of your dream day. I love it.

Flowers for your could be lilies - stargazer, calle, many styles in yellow. Roses, tulips, maybe daffodils would be a great choice in a tied bouquet.
Reply:Pink and yellow roses in pastel colours would go really good with green.

I personally wouldn't have a cake that looks like the castle without the theme through the wedding as it may look out of place. However if you can't stop thinking about the replica cake and really like it then I say go for it.
