What can I use to float on water in a bowl for wedding reception decor??

I need and idea of what I could use to float in water for my centerpieces at my wedding reception. I thought of the candles and flowers but I wanted to know if anyone knew of anything else.

What can I use to float on water in a bowl for wedding reception decor??
I used had gold fish as my centerpieces!!! Then people can take the fish home as wedding favors! But you can use any smaller fish.
Reply:Maybe make little fish bowls...know what fish is soooo pretty? The Japanese fighting fish (aka bettas) come in so many different colors....just make sure to keep them all separate because they WILL attack each other. But if you do have live fish, make sure you have a plan to care for them when you're done....give them out as favors to RESPONSIBLE people or maybe see if you can work something out with a pet store.....

Other ideas....instead of having something floating on top of the water, why not set up a little "bottom of the ocean"...get some sand and seashells at a craft store.

Another idea: there's somthing you can find in craft store...i think it's called "crushed ice" or something...you add it to water and it decorates the inside of the ball to look like crushed ice...it looks really nice, but hard to describe....then add the flower petals and/or candles....it will m ake the look more unique :-)

Good luck and have fun! Oh...Congrats!
Reply:Candles %26amp; gerber daisies are mostly what comes to mind.
Reply:I have seen the actual flower petals used, limes, lemons, cranberries or leaves.
Reply:Whatever you float on top, consider using submersible LEDs inside the vases or bowls, with some clear glass pebbles or marbles. This website has great prices on them:

Have a great wedding!
Reply:I agree with Nicole! A friend of mine had big glass bowls with 1 little goldfish per bowl, then floated candles above them. I think she also put glass marbles at the bottom of the bowl. It was simple, but pretty!

My sister is looking at some similar things. We actually found Mardi gras beads in her colours, and they actually float! So wemay put in some flowers and float the beads. It adds some sparkle (cause come on, we girls liek sparkles!) but it isn't over the top and Vegas looking!
Reply:well may be have just the flower petals....idk
Reply:cranberries float if ripe - they add a rich red colour
Reply:Think of something symbolic like something special that represents you and your new husband.

There are also crystals you could put in even along with flowers or candles

Or something that is popular in your state...if that makes sense.

Beads

pearls
Reply:someone else was mentioning fruit slices earlier.

very thinly sliced citrus- orange, grapefruit, kiwis...

use slices of potatoes and apples- put food coloring in a bowl and let them soak up the color. then use mini cookie cutters to cut them in to flower, heart or other shapes.

you can also use flower petals.

maybe even tinsle like from christmas time
Reply:Potpourri. But candles and flowers are nice. Or have candles surrounded by potpourri floating in them.
Reply:The fruit slices sound like an awesome idea.

You could also float some cranberries in there as well...It will all depend on what colors you are trying to use.

You could get some confetti and glitter and see how that would look in the water. You may even think about dying the water different colors, or getting some of those submersible floralytes. They colors and lighting would add a lot to the centerpieces.
Reply:Floating candles and flower petals.
